Are you kidding me? I dunno about you guys, but 98% of the smut I watched -- when I watched it -- was good for a run. Stuff I found really excellent I could watch 3 - 5 times...but then I was done. Porn's always had a short self-life. Always.
Porn is hardly dying, although "studios" that make porn (particularly vanilla, safe-sex porn) may be dying. From a consumer's standpoint, the marketplace has never been more favorable. There are a number of delivery systems providing porn, mail order dvd providers are plentiful, many niche fetishes are addressed through multiple media, and price-conscious shoppers can take advantage of market conditions. A lone girl with a webcam, with little capital and working out of her apartment, has the potential to reach a worldwide audience, if she is smart enough. Just as blogs have challenged the hegemony of institutional reporting of "news", so have webcams challenged the relevance of porn "studios". For those of us with less common preferences, webcasts, as opposed to dvds, do not have to conform to limitations on porn sex acts that have been imposed by politicians and politicians' employees upon (and embraced by) porn "studios". The decline in neighborhood video rental retail stores has clearly had a big impact on the market being addressed by porn "studios". The very insipid, but well known, publication, "AVN", seemed to be pitched to be an advisory guide to video rental stores on which porn titles to stock. Community standards concerns, related to politicians' desire to demogogue against porn, faced by these brick-and-mortar rental stores was a factor in what porn "studios" chose to produce. There aren't many of these stores around any more, and porn "studios" that catered to such stores have had to scramble to identify alternative sales channels. For me, with niche fetish preferences, the decline in United States-based porn "studios" doesn't matter much. The sorts of content that I wish to consume has never been more accessible, and I expect that more and more of it will become available to me. For example, there are some very long threads in this forum that speak to narrow preferences, such as dirty anal and girl-girl mouth spitting. Posters have wondered, in view of interest expressed in these threads, why there aren't more dvds being produced depicting such sex. The answer: these niches are too narrow to be addressed in profitable fashion by what has become the traditional porn product delivery system, and/or there may be concerns about persecution by politicians and politicians' employees. It's easy to envision, for example, a dirty anal webcast being available on a pay-per-view basis. So, as a consumer, I'm wondering why I should care if the porn "studio" production model is disintegrating.
Of the thousands of DVD's released in (pick a year) 2005, I have viewed fewer than 1percent of them, due to the limitations of time, money, and access. Just because the calender now says 2010, doesn't make those remaining 99% of the unseen 2005 movies automatically crap. Not to me, at least. If the shelf-life thing were true, then older tiles would be priced at bargain-basement prices. But in reality, the old stuff is usually priced the same as the new stuff. What's up with that?
I just wanted to add my last two cents to the conversation. The porn industry (From a Studio Prospective) is dying IMO also because of pricing. If you look at a lot of sites, it can cost you 20 to 40 bucks per film no problem. Why pay that amount when their are cheaper alternatives. These studios spend money on filming, paying actors, packaging and all sort of stuff. It's no longer needed to pay this amount of money per film due to what is out their on the internet. If you check out a site like http://www.telechargerDVDX.com. You can download full movies for like 10 bucks a piece. Not a bad deal at all IMO. This company doesn't have to pay for packaging, shipping or any of the other cost that causes prices to go up. More studios need to go to this type of format in delievering content. Just my two cents.
I don't think you get it. When there is no financial motive, there will be nothing left that's worth risking prosecution for. Once people realize they can be prosecuted and they have to keep excellent records, let's see how many amateurs you find giving stuff away for free.
I'd hate to see studios disappearing, that'll be the end of my much beloved feature porn. That's not exactly something a girl can do with her webcam at home. And quite frankly, most of the stuff shot from a webcam or camcorder on a tripod looks horrible in comparison to even the worst low-budget gonzo flick.
MikeSouth If this is true "which I'm not doubting" I'm actually very disturbed hearing this. Then why isn't the whole porn industry black listing him? Why does the AVN support him? Why don't the store as a whole boycott all of his products? I'm not bitching just shocked and curious. -Thanks Chester Kingwood, Clover Enterprises
Jules might be smarter than anyone in the room. Tube sites are going to win. Whether anyone likes it or anyone thinks it's right. Jules is pretty astute to buy in. His directors get more per piece than anyone working with any studio in porn. (No one from Evil Angel has shared their data with me, so I can't speak for them). Problem? It's business.
I think his point was that tube sites will make porn unprofitable. So yes, they will win, but no it's not sustainable. Tubes will win the battle and lose the war.
Same logic that gave us Red Light District and Zero Tolerance. Porn's "kill the goose" theory went in action long before tubes were trendy.

Why did AVN supoport AdultFriendFinder and other advertisers that clearly support the sites that do content theft....I return you to my original statement. In many cases they are too dumb to know better and or too lazy to research who it is they do business with. Or they simply take the money and run.
"Which way did they go? Which way did they go??" the content producers ask Bugs Bunny as he points towards a cliff and stares deadpan into the camera....and we all head straight for it. There is no shame in this shameless industry! Won't someone please bring back some shame?
Just as an example, here is a typical frustration-inducer for me. Any help to stop this would be appreciated. 1. The site www.finalbukkake.com contains nothing but stolen content (as far as I can tell). I cannot speak for others but I know I did not license or authorize my stuff to be on their site. 2. I researched the url at www.godaddy.com and found that the site is controlled by Name.com LLC. 3. I contacted them and I'm waiting for a reply. This repeats itself often. There is no DMCA policy posted on the site. So what does someone in my position do?
Name.com appears to be just another registrant service. I would try contacting the address on [ invalid url ], I believe he does this kind of work for other companies and might be able to give you some suggestions.

"Why is porn dying...?" Because when a person goes to search Google/Any search engine for a particular scene or movie, the first couple of results he or she gets, are not for the place to purchase the scene, but links to sites where they can download it illegally without ever having to pay. You can be legitimately looking for something you want to purchase, but when the first 3 or 4 results are for links where you can grab the scene for free. How could you not download it/click on the link. It would take an extremely moral person not.
Thanks. I will see what sort of reply I get from the site. RE: Nate. Yes! I've been in contact with him in the past. I'm just not in a position to pony up money for new content AND even more to protect it. For better or worse, I'd like to do as much as I can on my own but it's a losing battle. People take it for free. They say they enjoy it. They want more....for free. It just can't last and there will always be another sucker to step up and try to be the next big thing. There is another forum that hosts all my stuff in addition to many others. I was given status on the forum when I asked to check things out. When I said I wasn't cool with every update being uploaded and given away, they terminated my ability to respond to threads to request the links to be removed. Now that's class. The salt in the wound is that they have a member counter that lists nearly 135,000 members of the forum and many pay a weekly fee to belong. How do you compete with someone earning money and not having to pay anything to produce the updates?
Another gem in the pile is www.filestube.com. Try sending a DMCA notice to them and you get a message saying your e-mail was not sent, error this, error that, confirm YOUR e-mail by a bunch of capcha sonfirmations (they wouldn't want to be inundated with spam, after all), and you go round and round and round and round...... Keep chasing your tail, doggie. You're almost there! Whomever is behind www.filestube.com is a brutally nasty thief.
Hey Brandon -- got your message. I'm using RemoveYourContent.com -- it's only been a month of so, and so far it's been either disheartening (they're showing me places I never knew existed where you can DL my WHOLE site for free) or encouraging (the links are, indeed, coming down.) I just duno if the links will pop back up tomorrow. The BS line all these tube sites use is "hey, we can't control it! It's user submitted!) which, of course, is complete bullshit. Funny how Brazzer's scenes don't end up on the Tubes they own (which are the biggest ones out there). If you need anything e-mail or call bro.
Thanks, man. Good luck with your stuff. The David vs. Goliath struggle will continue. Here's one more layer in the onion that shows just how frustrating it can be to get something done. Info on who owns www.filestube.com: Registrant: Domains by Proxy, Inc. DomainsByProxy.com 15111 N. So everyone shooting porn goes out of business and then there's no more porn. Then the tube sites will fold up cos there's nothing new, except that there is SO MUCH porn, when would they ever run out? Hey, the print newspaper industry has hit the skids. I haven't had any mainstream gigs worth noting since Oct 2008. Hardly anyone values the work I do enough to pay me a living wage to continue to do it ... Edited by - skronker on 1/17/2010 7:46:55 PM
I don't know what else to do either! The problem is that I'm "all in" on my content. It's taken years to build it and seconds to take it away. I'm not here to stir shit or point fingers but let's take one small example: [link removed: No tube sites] I searched "bukkake" and was bowled over to see stolen content (use whatever euphemism you want...I will say it's stolen). When you search who owns the url for [link removed: No tube sites] you get: Registrant Domains by Proxy, Inc. (480) 624-2599 Phone (480) 624-2598 Fax DomainsByProxy.com 15111 N. So.....who is behind these sites? How many more do they control? How much time would a person have to spend to search and send DMCA notices? It feels like a tv critic who has to watch every show on every channel and review each one. Someone, somewhere is laughing his or her ass off...
It's moving into the non-profit sphere. Grants and such. For websites. Paywalls will come back in gradually. Or subscription services thru iPhone or whatever. You'll pat $30 a month for access to xx websites with news/feature content. Just like BrainCash!
Domains by Proxy appears to be a service to hide who the real registrant is. They say to e-mail the offending customer through their address used in the whois but they do appear to have a form you can fill out here if one of their customers has ignored such e-mails.

Brandon...email me I will tell you how to deal with all the situations you mentioned.
I would imagine Belladonna makes money. Why? Because her content is better than the run of the mill stuff out there. Wifey makes money I'm sure. Content is still king.
I'm not going to argue with you about content but it takes money to make money. I made some of the content that's being ripped off and don't get an income from the tube sites to make more. So if you want to turn it around on the producers and say to "make better content and then people will pay," I'm going to predict that the odds are long on that. I hit a couple home runs and now you're moving the wall back further.
You can be crazy or ugly, but not both. 122 Posts 6/04

Interesting someone should mention Wifey. I see lots of clips from the main players pirated on tube sites, but rarely Wifey clips. Maybe one or two per site. So maybe Wifeysworld has an anti-piracy policy that's worth exploring.
I went to the form and filled it in properly, at least to the best of my knowledge. It did not get submitted because "no active domain names" were entered. I entered the basic url and then copy and pasted links that are clearly active. This quickly becomes and exercise in frustration. Seriously, there has to be someone out there who knows more about what really lies behind this.
Brandon, I love your vision and also dig you as a performer, no offense was meant to you, I'm just thinking that the industry might be coalescing around females, er maybe I should say it'll be around individuals in the future, such as yourself, - with an established fan base, and then the access to value added content becomes the draw, similarly to the music industry in that the money is now being made again for the artist is in touring and or in other streams wherein the buyer buys something greater than the mass produced disc, etc. Maybe this will become the new model? Webcasts and an archive of past shows on your site, special guests, a touring schedule, special products, etc? Surely you have a large female fan base? Can't this be tapped into? And what a problem to have?!! I wish it were mine... And I agree, Wifey and Hubby must be doing something to stem piracy.
My "Vagina in Regina" tour starts next Friday! I normally would avoid Saskatchewan in January but your post inspired me. Thanks! Seriously, I feel like the preacher in There Will Be Blood who is told "I drink your milkshake!" by Daniel Day Lewis. "But....but...it's my milkshake......isn't it?" Accoring to www.youjizz.com and www.filestube.com (and whomever is behind them), no.

i think the biggest problem is the storylines/build up suck. Every genre. Years back and in europe there is a story line which makes it more i guees you would say erotic. you can find better stories on the message board. You can film great sex but the story makes it even hotter
I do not condone, sponsor, participate, own, make money off of, or have anything to do with tube sites, just to be clear, I personally cant stand tube sites, my content is on all of them, I send dmca notices all the time. I have spent millions of dollars protecting my copyrights, as well as every other studios in the business who wouldnt come forward to do anything. Certain gossip sites lately have been trying to draw traffic to their sites with far reaching accusations to bring in sales to their websites and affiliates by using my name, and I dont appreciate it.
You "imagine". Uh huh. And Wifey? You so sure? Neither is making near what they did before the proliferation of piracy on the internet. Nowhere near. There's no denying content is king. None whatsoever. Just like there's no denying pirates steal the best treasure.
I've said it once...and I'll say it again. I do not own or operate Blacks on Blondes -- or any other site under The Dogfart name. I simply direct for them. Why do you to deflect the real issues by stirring up things which were settled almost a decade ago? What next, Jules? Oh wait. I already know. ^^ That is why the industry is dying. Instead of working together(RIAA)to fight piracy, creators of content would rather fight amongst themselves.
This argument has been made 1000 times in 1000 threads. It's over. Maybe not today, maybe not even next year but it's over. We all know it. We don't like to talk about it because quite honestly it's just too depressing to see the business we all love disappear and our livelihoods with it, but it's as inevitable as the sun rising tomorrow. All the arguments have been made; "Offer better content and we'll pay", "Be more creative and we'll pay", "Offer a more convenient delivery model and we'll pay", blah blah blah. At the end of the day, as it's been said so eloquently before by so many others: you can't compete with free. End of argument. The entire entertainment industry is just trying to stay one step ahead of the content thieves but let's face it, in 5 years technology will have increased to the point where you will be able to download Avatar in 3D off of a file sharing site in about 45 minutes. And when that's possible, there will never be another film like it ever made. The proverbial towel will be thrown in on all new intellectual property because it won't be cost-effective to be creative. I'm actually more sad about what has already happened to the music business. For all of the insipid noise and nonsense that's been churned out over the years, there has also been a Pink Floyd, a U2, a Bruce Springsteen etc. Those days are over. The greedy corporate machinery that so many use to justify their content theft are as responsible for Led Zeppelin as they are for Britney Spears. People expect to be paid for their talent. Somehow I just don't see the next Who or Aerosmith being discovered via their self-produced streaming demo on Myspace. To the few of you out there who actually do support what you love with your wallet, be it adult content, music, books, or whatever, you have my unending respect and gratitude. Unfortunately there are less of you with each passing day and those days are numbered for anyone who creates anything that can so easily be stolen with a mouse click. Pitch a story about a guy who goes on message boards and, in one breath, cries about how people don't want to pay for his work, and in the next breath tries to get free advice from people who might be competent to help him with his problem (because, you know, why should he have to pay for professional services?). And is apparently completely oblivious to the irony of what he's doing.
What is more obvious to me is that the person who is asked for advice at least has a choice to give it or not. You can't say the same thing about the person in need of said advice. No one ever asked me if I'd like to be robbed only to see my stuff being sold at a neighbour's cyber garage sale. Every cent goes in his tube-shaped pocket. And you want me to feel bad for calling the fire department because the thief left behind a lit cigarette that burned my house down?
And Brandon, once you can't shoot blowbangs anymore because of tube sites then the mopes will be forced to go on food stamps or return to a life of crime, thus draining society of its prosperity. Porn is a pillar of the economy. I bet those anonymous tube site scroundrels aren't picking up the tab for Tone Capone's 40s and Arnold Schwarzenpecker's In and Out burgers, are they? Will Obama bail out the mopes?
What you are reading are the lamentations of a man who loves what he does. Really, I do. You think Tiger doesn't still want to beat Nicholas's record? You think Tarantino preferred to see Avatar, the shoe-in, win the Golden Globe Best Picture award? No one likes to listen to a rags-to-rags story. Even Haitians are e-mailing me saying they feel sorry for me. Daily head till I'm dead. That was supposed to be the deal.
