horrible news. i cant believe it! i dont know why everyone got their panties in a bunch about not working with gay actors. this issue comes up every time there is an aids scare. last time was like 6 or 7 years ago (i think) & biz workers were freaking out cause some male talent worked in brazil with some trans ppl & gave it to a few female actors. thats the major prob with social media - actors nowadays have to be available to fans...but the double edge sword is they can really wreck your self image. poor girl.

First of all I'm really shocked and sad about the news of August passing and this could be avoided so easily. If this all started with her refusing to work with a gay porn actor why couldn't the dude take a test, and if he passes it should be no problem. He would have gotten tested like every other porn star working in the Valley gets tested. The issue comes from not trusting the test because you believe he's engaging in risky behavior between tests. The reason this topic gets contentious is what people define as risky behavior. As for August, this is really sad. Rest in Peace.

Very shocking and very, very sad. I can't believe it. She was so beautiful. May her soul move on to a place much better than this messed up world.
I was kind of surprised when Shyla Stylez died, but not completely surprised; this, however, is a real shocker. So tragic that someone so young, so beautiful and so full of life, should do something so desperate and foolish. Her family must be heartbroken.

I'm at a loss for words!!! Such a terrible terrible day! This is pivitol, monumental moment for the adult industry. I hope that the adult entertainment industry can finally adopt some sort of simposium for these performers (all performers) who come into the business. They need to be nurtured, educated and developed with much better organized care. This is unacceptable to have a current top 5 performing star pass away so needlessly!!! I just got the news. We have to remember that these young women that act out these fantasies for us are real people and feel pain from our words. I could have guessed a hundred names that this could happened to before August because she seemed so happy. I wish her husband, family and friends healing in this terrible time.
^^^There were rumours earlier this year that she had been hospitalised due to a possible suicide attempt - but I don't think they were ever confirmed. One of the shocking people to have shamed her on Twitter is Jessica Drake. Jessica is entitled to her opinion but you have to be one hell of an hypocrite to actually shame another performer who is simply choosing who she is and isn't willing to have sex with. Especially when that performer is putting her health in dager by having condomless sex with a possible crossover male performer when she herself has spent her entire career working for the only company that as always required their performers to use a condom. You make a comment about ANYTHING concerning an issue surrounding the LGBTQ community in the current cultural climate, you're going to have to deal with a hailstorm of sh*t being thrown your way. The guy who told her take a cyanide pill and off herself says he was just trying to help her understand she was uninformed and with her platform should apologize and make a statement FOR the LGBTQ community. Essentially, if you're not speaking up for us, don't speak at all. What she said wasn't against the LGBTQ community, she didn't feel comfortable working with guys who work with other men because she felt it was risky healthwise. Now everyone who attacked her is backtracking while steadily claiming not to be. No more care for other people's lives, opinions, well-being, health... The thing about August is we suspected she had depression problems. I recall a few months back when she posted a cryptic message on her IG crying saying to be too sad in this world. She went idle for like days and everyone was asking about her. Finally we got a pic of her and we were all happy she was ok. There are certain people we know suffer through things and yet we never hold back. We continue to rail on them. I hope people really think twice now before they say or type things.
I agree. As foul as it is to berate people on social media, that's what blocking/muting/reporting is for. Unless an individual is proven to actually be waging a campaign to harass someone by exploiting programs and essentially violating privacy in order to do so, I have to oppose the question of actionable offense. It's public affairs and if someone ends their life, it shows there is certainly more of a I think the reason people want criminal charges is because of that notable precedent set (when was it - last year?) when that one girlfriend told an unstable guy to kill himself and he did. Obviously I didn't follow that too closely, but it strikes me as a notable distinction considering she had intimate personal familiarity with him and his history of psychological issues, or do I have that wrong? This recent spat on Twitter seems like the garden variety outrage brigade bitchfest. In fairness, I think there is a legitimate case to make for some - SOME - of those who took exception to August's public statements about her opposition to working with talent who also works in gay porn. But that's maybe better suited for a separate dedicated topic. We can debate that issue at length and present facts for either or any side, but none of which change the fact she's dead now. And that's the point I'm trying to make here because we've all engaged in similar debates or at least waded into controversial political discussions and hazarded our own 2 cents, only to be flamed by someone convinced they are supremely educated on the issue as to justify making personal attacks on us. But we don't forfeit our lives as a consequence. At least 99.99% of us don't. I may be wrong, but given the overwhelming odds based both on statistics and personal experience, how likely was it that the people attacking August online were familiar with her psychological history or condition?
I am inclined to agree with your position. I think what you're summarizing here is not untrue. At the same time, it is not too surprising some would be indignant about August's brief statement. It's all about the level of reactionary offense being in proportion with the original perceived offense, and typically, there's at least a few folks out there whose reactions are enormously disproportionately out-sized next to the comparatively innocuous so-called "micro-aggression." I think at worst what August tweeted was a "micro-aggression" and if the term has any real meaning, this would be it. The thing about these m-a's is they make zero consideration for intention. They are taken irrespective of intention. I am curious to know percentage-wise what the increased risk of infection within the gay porn industry is vs the hetero. It may only be 1% difference, but suppose the risk in hetero porn is about 1%, and the risk in gay porn is about 2%. Hypothetically, while the percentages in isolation seem small, the overlap presents a doubling of relative risk, and while this could seem especially trifling for one performer, another may simply find that relative risk increase as too significant to rationalize. Again, one person could see it as just a 1% increased risk, and another could see it as a doubled risk. Before I go any further, if there's another thread for this issue, if anyone would be so kind as to link it, I think it would help everyone become better informed and ultimately we could all benefit from understanding others a bit better. I think there's ignorance coming from both camps or even more regarding the pertinent issues.
