RK and Mofos are primarily Florida, Brazzers is primarily Vegas, which basically leaves Digital Playground, Twistys, and Babes as their studios that primarily shoot in LA (and those three not only don't shoot as much as the other three, but they also shoot some scenes in Vegas too, as far as I know). They reduced it to $10K/month in 2013 after they couldn't get other producers to contribute to the fund. Manwin offered to match any other funding. Other big contributors ($10K+) to Measure B included Vivid, Evil Angel, Hustler, Adam & Eve, Wicked, Doc Johnson, Cal Exotics and distributor IVD. Other contributors included Kink, Elegant Angel, New Sensations, Zero Tolerance, Girlfriends Films, MetArt, Kickass, and West Coast Productions among producers. Add Pulse (distributor), agents Spiegler and 101 Modeling, retailers Gamelink and DVD Empire, and Xbiz and Exxxotica. This list isn't meant to be complete but that covers most of it. But there's still a bunch of problems with that idea. The first is that even if I actually did think there were hundreds of thousands of people in California who visit Pornhub (and I'm not sure I do), how many of them are registered voters (or even old enough to vote), and how many would actually even see whatever ad they put on the site, let alone click on it to find out what it was actually about. The second is that the person likely to be on Pornhub and care enough to click whatever ad/link they do put up is more likely to be someone that was already going to vote their way anyway. And third is that I don't think that amount is enough to actually sway a statewide ballot in a state that has 40 million people in it, and about 18 million registered voters (17.7 as of last year is what I've found so far). I mean, every little bit helps and all, but I just don't see this being a particularly big deal. ^^ And if I'm AHF, as soon as the prop goes on the books I file so many complaints that there's no way that CalOSHA can respond to them all in time unless they automate it and fine everyone. Thinking about it, is the actual time limit already set in the language of the Prop, or is that something that'll be determined after it passes? Prop 60 has more teeth to it by design. It's meant to light a fire under Cal/OSHA or allow other actions. You're either going to start shooting with condoms or you're going to go elsewhere. Repeat violations under Prop 60 quickly become more than most porn shoots cost to produce these days. Nobody is going to want to continue to do business in that environment."If the Division, within 21 days of receiving the request, responds that it is going to pursue the alleged violator(s) via the administrative enforcement process or a civil action, and initiates enforcement proceedings or files a civil action within 45 days of receiving the request, no other action may be brought unless the Division's action is abandoned or dismissed without prejudice. FCLCA is a "nonpartisan, statewide public interest lobby founded by Quakers in 1952 to advocate for California state laws that are just, compassionate and respectful of the inherent worth of every person." - FSC Executive Director Eric Paul Leue said "Should Prop 60 pass, I will be the first person to urge everybody that is in the sex industry to leave this state." Realistically, the biggest hurdle should be the fact that all that would happen is that AHF would try to get the same type of thing passed in those states. In a nutshell: 1) pandering/prostitution concerns 2) model release (contract) concerns 3) insurance concerns Ray Guhn (mentioned in pornlaws post) was sentenced to four years in prison in Florida. Another concern still talked about is running afoul of the Mann Act (transporting across state lines for the purpose of prostitution or illegal sexual acts). As to where to next... I've read articles by adult attorneys arguing for both Florida and Nevada as the best place to go. AHF won't be going away. They filed their first complaint with Nevada OSHA in 2013 and filed complaints with the Florida Department of Health as far back as 2010. Things can change as well. Early last year a joint statement from Nevada OSHA and the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services said they were considering whether to adopt regulations for porn productions. So basically they'll arrest/fine you for anything else (like the Mann Act or public indecency or filming without a permit or something like that) before they do so for that. [Link] |
