I know they don't want to cut footage they spent money on but when you're making any kind of movie, there are sacrifices that have to be made for the sake of crafting the best possible product. If they really can't stand to part with 20 minutes worth of footage showing people changing positions and trying (and failing) multiple times to do something right and so forth, they could put it on an outtakes disc or something. I'm sure there are people who would buy it if there's really something in there they want to see. The final product should be clean, tight and free of failed attempts to do it right Examples would be - 1. where the guy keeps trying to get his cock in the hole and keeps missing. It serves no purpose and wastes time. We only need to see his cock go in the hole once. We don't need to see him miss 15 times. For one thing, it screws up the fantasy and makes you subconsciously start watching for more flaws. The sheen should be as perfect as possible without making it unnaturally flawless. 2. If the movie is about anal gapes, the best gapes should be kept and the failures should be cut. Anyway, I know these guys don't want to spend a month editing every movie but really. Wasted time in a porn flick is worse than it is in any other kind of movie. You have to remember that your audience is generally not watching this for mere entertainment. Most of us are trying to get off. However, when it becomes a conduit for other people's content that becomes "problematic" at the very least. I'm all for innovation and making a buck. However, when that means girls leave the business one by one for lack of work (a derivative effect of companies going out of business due to free stuff) or even worse new girls are discouraged from entering the business (again due to lack of work) that is a major problem in my opinion. Hell I remember when renting from video stores caused a dent (customers renting vids vs. buying them), but at least then you had tons of video stores at least buying. Look around your neighborhoods. How many of those video stores are still there? And if they did indeed close, the chances are that either economics (with the advent of the internet would you invest your life savings in a brick and mortar shop?) or zoning (permits can be hard to come by for new adult entities) inhibits replacements. They buy vs. rent issue pales in comparison to the free issue. And more ripple effects? AIM is requesting donations at their main location and closed another location altogether. Granted in part for legal defense, but mainly because fewer and fewer people are paying for tests (again, see lack of work comment above). DVD distributors, shoot locations (a lot of which have been sold or are sitting vacant), makeup artists and almost everything else in between has had adverse circumstances hit their business and the one common denominator is it happened after the rise of "free". So again, why you would "choose to" contribute to the killing of the golden goose is totally beyond me. [Link]
