To more pleasant things. I'm writing a brief impression (not a real review) of the film Alexis & Asa

It's interesting because it's only 1 of 2 films that won both AVN and X Biz award for best all-girl release during the last 10 years (the other being Sweet Sweet Sallie Mae in 2022 which I wrote about above). It won both of those awards in 2015. It was produced by Adam and Eve (I assume you can't get any more mainstream than that) and directed by Andre Madness (according to IAFD, his credits mostly belong to the "teen" genre).

This was an interesting time, because the very next year "The Business of Women" from Girlsway would start an unbroken winning streak for Girlsway/Adult Times for 7 straight years for X Biz, and AVN would go on to mostly award Angela White and Girlsway/Adult Times for the next 7 years. While Girlfriends Films and Sweetheart Video had been around for quite a while by then, at least in terms of industry recognition it's not an exaggeration to consider this a sort of "last hurrah" for the old guard.

This is not really a film in that it doesn't have a plot. It's four completely unconnected vignettes. By the title alone you can already tell this is essentially a star vehicle for Alexis Texas and Asa Akira. Both started getting nominated for many awards around 2011 (Asa ended up winning many of them). The other two in the film, Skin Diamond and Dani Daniels, are in fact also highly acclaimed around the same time. The first scene is an orgy with these four. The next three scenes will pair them off: Asa and Skin, Asa and Alexis, Alexis and Dani.

There are several things of note. One is that while all four women have very strong g/g performances in their career, despite being a star vehicle, this is not it. The sexual performance were all just so-so. Another is the bare-minimum plot for all 4 scenes, which stand in contrast to the future winners that either had much more plot (GW films or just plain gonzo like the Angela Loves Women series). Finally it feels like a strange mix of both old and new elements. All these can be seen in the first orgy scene.

There is supposed to be a plot: Alexis, Skin and Dani are high school students who walk into a bath/locker room while Asa hides in the toilet stall. I think it has something to do with bullying? A catfight? Who knows? After a few lines of indistinct dialogue, it's all forgotten.

Here's an old thing (really old): music during sex. Modern day videos will sometimes have mood-appropriate music during the story, but will have no music during the sex. Back in the really old days, there's music during sex (if you can believe it). So does this scene, except it's kinda low key and not very loud. So why have it at all? Not sure.

Here's a new thing: in modern g/g scene, kissing and make out are pretty much required. So does this scene. But it's really short and truncated, as if the director is still worried that the viewers will somehow not like it. Oral sex is big in modern scenes, so it's also present here (and the quality is not that bad), but again it comes in short, broken segments.

Back in the old days, sex toys rule. So we still have those in this scene. Yet you can see there's some attempt at the new: these are stapless dildos, and the girls give a good effort at making them work (they don't work well, but A for effort).

And what's this shocking new innovation? Alongside face-sitting by Alexis on Dani, Skin and Asa are attempting scissoring? It was pretty brief, but I dare say they got the angle more right than many modern attempts.

Finally, just like the old days, you have to whip out the hand-held dildos. However, here it's not treated as a way to distance or isolate performers, but is used in combination with oral sex.

First, I really like the fact that this is on one of AT's channels -- it's called "1111 Customs."
