WOW! imagine all the porn this will stop people buying.. i mean illegally downloading.
condom porn will not sell. and when people are chasing sales, this will only encourage producers to leave for a town that doesn't have this law.
i'm stunned LA just told a billion dollar industry to go fuck itself...with a rubber.

I hardly think my sexual freedom is being eroded because of condoms in porn. Drama queen much?

People like Porno Dan are screwed because he shoots from a set that everyone knows where it's located. So they can just send an officer there everyday to check on him, if they'd like. For the rest, if you pay attention, there's not that many shoot houses, and they just used over and over again by a ton of different companies. And the police probably know where those are, too. So they'll start showing up randomly there and inspecting. So if you're going to shoot in LA County, you're going to have to find new shoot houses, and make sure you're being discreet when you get there.
But the truth is that anyone who can is just going to stop shooting in LA County. The problem is that, emboldened by the victory, AHF is probably just going to go for the whole state of California next. They can't keep running, because the AHF is just going to keep chasing them wherever they go. At some point, they have to make a stand.

No, they just told them to go somewhere else. History has shown that people are willing to get paid to fuck on camera and they will go to where the money is. The half a dozen companies that this will effect will either use rubbers or move out of LA County, that's all.

1. Not at all, the judge would throw it out by saying "It was a legal referendum the people have spoken"
2. Enforcing would be easy. All they have to do is show up at a company's office and confiscate all non rubber material produced after a certain date a couple of times.

It is a big shame for americans. Many performers will lose their job and it is very sad.
But... This is a green light for european porn. I hope many american producers and performers will go to Europa for real porn. Yes. Maybe it will be riskier, but it will be real porn. Porn, for which we are willing to pay.
For the others the question is - how much consumers are ready to pay for videos, where performers are afraid to have sex. My answer! Sex with condoms is not porn for me. I would not take it for free.

# 2 Is wrong, why? because they would have to have evidence that is WAS shot in LA county. What if it was shot in long beach?

Except that it's not illegal to distribute the porn. It's only illegal to produce it. And, again, if they shoot with no external shots, you can't definitively say whether the scene was shot in Los Angeles or San Diego or San Francisco. The only way to enforce this is to catch them in the act of shooting.

And according to the Huffington post it would cost over 582,000 dollars every 2 years to tax payers to run that program. And to police 280 performers and if the studios decide to go under or leave, they would be stuck with that bill, YIKES!

#1 is wrong too. Just look at prop 8 from 2008 the ban on gay marriage was just deemed unconstitutional after passing 4 years ago. It has been going back and forth since 2008 going higher and higher into the court system. This most recent judgement came from U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, so if there is another hearing it will have to be in front of the Supreme Court.

No on Government Waste Committee Takes Next Steps in Wake of Measure B Passage (FSC)
In the wake of Measure B’s passage by Los Angeles County voters, the No on Government Waste Committee, a broad coalition of business, entertainment, healthcare, minority and community organizations, announced an effort to stop its implementation through the courts, as well as urged the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to delay implementation pending litigation resolution.

whether or not it is easy to circumvent this law, it will be driving some performers away from the industry. I'm guessing a dozen or so high profile stars will call it quits by the end of the year. Jessie Rogers already has. Too bad!

It's time to relocate or go out of business.
Abby Winters was the biggest adult producer in Australia. The "authorities" got on their backs. So they moved to the Netherlands in Europe.

That result completely sucks...If given the option to buy porn w/ condoms or w/o, I'd definitely prefer without. Hopefully this measure isn't foreshadowing future measures aimed at taming the kind of porn out there now...

Was there any significant (i.e., $$$) organized opposition to this measure? I'm not talking about rounding up a few porn chicks and taking a picture of them in "No on B" T-shirts and press-releasing it, or guest editorials in throwaway free weekly papers and stuff like that; I'm talking about TV ads and so forth, like what the agribusiness conglomerates did to defeat the proposition that would have required that genetically-engineered food items be labeled as such.

Again, you just repackage it as "workplace safety".
1. All they have to do is set the penalty high enough and it won't be worth the risk even if you don't think you'll get caught.
2. Did you know a lot of cameras now record your location in the Exif info? You can turn it off, I guess but the first time you forget will be the time someone decides to look.

Long Beach is still in LA County.
(EDIT: Ah, but I just read the blog linked above, and- as Long Beach doesn't contract with the LA Dept of Health- it cannot adopt Measure B in spite of being part of LA County. In fact- at least according to that blog- B only applies to unincorporated parts of LA County, unless individual cities decide to adopt it as law.
Interesting reading.)

I'm not from L.A., but I've been there quite a few times.
Anyone know how far is it to travel outside the county line?
I'm thinking it's an inconvenience, but it's not insurmountable.

Most of the little studios will fold and the bigger studios need to move to San Diego or out of state this is just ridiculous the state California is broke how will they enforce this???? So there will have to be someone to enforce this every time they are shooting a new see that is lame I bet they shoot 5000+ plus scenes a yr in LA. Most web sites do not have to worry about this they are out of state. I think they could setup shop in any other state they wanted to if they kept it on the down low like Bagabros does

Comparing something trivial such as condoms in porn with a major social issue are way too different things when it comes to being unconstitutional.

I still say they should buy a cruise ship or something and shoot in international waters. Even a small ship would be more than enough space, I would think.
Then again, maybe the industry just doesn't have that kind of money.

NOPE!
Dan O'Connell, owner of Girlfriends Films, also weighed in. Asked how requiring latex "dental dams" for girl/girl sex would affect his company, he said, "That is basically unacceptable for girl/girl content. We will probably follow the industry wherever it goes. If the industry ends up going to Las Vegas, we'll have to shoot there, or Ventura County or Riverside County, Orange County-we'll end up going wherever the girls go on this. And fortunately, we had been planning for this situation ever since it came up, and we probably have six months worth of content shot that we can put out before we have to figure out what we're going to be doing. We want to remain shooting, of course, but I don't want to risk being thrown in jail, of course, so we'll see what happens. I have a feeling we'll be shooting elsewhere, and I'm hopeful on some short of challenge to the law; not sure what it would be, but obviously, everybody in the industry is very upset about it and I think AIDS Healthcare never really had the interests of the performers in mind when they did this or they would have approached us more on a friendly basis, but they've been adversarial from the very beginning. "

Even if Measure B did require condoms only for B/G anal and vaginal sex Girlfriends would still have to move as a lot of their most popular performers do B/G for other studios and there's really a limit to how much traveling about you can expect these girls to do.

I am relieved to know that the industry is going to fight it.
As a former resident of L.A. county, I am slightly disappointed, but at the same time-I can see how the measure would pass.
Most average voters in L.A. most likely would not care about what the implications are....it just appears to come across as 'prudent'.
I have read many blogs and such from industry folk. I will not worry about it for now.
My thoughts about porn fans that would be worried if it becomes a regulated policy;
1.) Fans of creampie porn. I can see their concern. Not my 'thing', but I would guess they would be concerned.
2.) Fans of swallowing. I can appreciate the concern.
3.) Fans of facials. This would be my area of concern. Although I would not detest condoms for intercourse, I would definitely be opposed to goggles and face-masks!!
I know I am not in the majority for my preference there. It is what it is.
I will continue to hope that the industry finds solid grounds to traverse this setback without snags!
At the same time, I agree with many others that have stated that content will not go astray. It will just move on, to where it can perpetuate for fans who pay to acquire said content.
I do not feel too worried, but as a former resident of L.A. county, I hope that things are resolved to somewhat of a status quo.
Facemasks and goggles are pretty disruptive to any porn I would want to see!
Sorry-I think I may preaching to the choir, and I really cannot influence people in L.A.
Just hoping for my own selfish plight.....

I voted against it and I know a number of people who also did. This is a stupid measure and shouldn't have even been up for a vote. The people of California can be so progressive on some issues and idiots on so many other ones.
Plus they seem to like to approve lots of measures and propositions on things that we don't need to be spending money on, particularly with our state in major debt. Examples: this and back in 2008, the high speed rail.
Dumb.

"Progressivism" and liberal fascism are closely related. They're not just idiots. They're lifestyle nazis. If they agree with your lifestyle, your choices and your habits, they're your best friends. If they don't, they make it their mission in life to punish you and make you change your life to suit them.

Savoy is correct. It does not apply to oral sex involving a penis.
The language says "The use of condoms is required for all acts of anal or vaginal sex during the production of adult films to protect performers from sexually transmitted infections."
Sets will be required to have that language posted for performers to see.

^^^^^^
It is indeed a very poorly written law, drawn up by the sexually ignorant.
Nowhere does it say where or how the condom should be worn or by whom.
Nowhere does it say if femidoms i.e. female condoms are permitted during vaginal sex.
When considering "vaginal sex" they probably didn't even consider cunnilingus. Do they require dental dams be used or not? A dental dam is not a female condom.
Do they require latex gloves be worn for finger fucking or not?
Nowhere does it say anything at all about regular monthly STD testing for performers being a requirement under this legislation.
If monthly STD testing is no longer required and no condom is required for acts of fellatio then the risk of infection will be increased not reduced.
Paula Tavrow PhD, MSc, MALD is the only woman who put her name to the arguments for Measure B. She is an anti-porn campaigner and close associate of the infamous Shelley Lubben.
