She's part of the vlog squad. Massively famous to teens and tweens on youtube.
Imagine you are 15 years old. The girl you watch on youtube for months has an onlyfans. You would pop into the local grocers or t-mobile store, buy a prepaid VISA, and sign up to her OF to see what's up.

Idk I never had idols. I've worked with famous people and always treated them as normal people. This stuff breaks the economy if it was not just a select group of lucky people. The point of money is that you trade for something of equal value. She makes 40 times as much as our prime minister.

Not really my scene, but on a thread discussing Floyd Mayweather, I've been told that rappers do it. (And yes, Mayweather does it, but I wouldn't call him an entertainer.)

Let's say for argument sake that an underage person could find a way to sign up to her OF account. That explains the first months but this is the era when you can find far easier things on the net to masturbate so a hot semi-celebrity to than a woman who likely doesn't even take her clothes off is not going to keep the interest of most people. I'd also like to point out that she would need 50,000 paying members to make a million dollars. I mostly think that this story is just like most of the other where someone claims to make millions from OF....Pure B.S.

On a discussion on women's forum about a lady claiming to make substantial money on OF, there were these comments.

"it's a pyramid like scheme. To be getting that money you need girls under you. When she said " her friend got her I to it" her friend is now earning a % of this girls takings so the more girls you get to join the more money you earn

"she's not making money not selling adult content. And I'm dubious as to the quantum they love to claim. No one is buying g rated pics of anyone"

"None of these only fans people ever just say how many subscribers they've got. They always brag about how much they made on day X, which makes you think $2000 was her best day.

I have no issues with only fans, but I think the media is perpetuating a lie. It's not nearly as lucrative as it's made out to be, and very much a dead end without selling very adult content."

(Teagan Kaye was earning just $200 a week. After 24 hours on OnlyFans, she made $2,000.)

You don't need age verification to spend. Only to post and earn.
You are correct that there are hotter girls, but I made the analogy in the previous quote that she has the notoriety. It feels like BS, only because we are old men who don't know who she is.

David Dobrik's vlog squad youtube channel has 18+ million subscribers. Here's an explanation of some of the channel's economics:

Absolutely completely possible she made $2k in 24 hours, but probably significantly drops after that. Bella Thorne supposedly earned her first million on OnlyFans in 12 hours, but took 2 weeks to earn the next million.

Imagine one of your friend's hot wife decides to join OnlyFans and tells everyone. Maybe there are 20 guys who know her personally, and each tells one of their friends. You got 40 guys now. They sign up for a month at $15 each just because she is known to them. And maybe because of this connection, they also tip her an average of $10. That's $1k in 24 hours off the bat.

Also, a lot of earners come from niches or other sexwork.

"What I don't understand is why so many people are keen to pay for this 🤷‍♀️. ... I'm just fascinated that there's obviously so many people paying all these OF randoms? it seems a strange thing to me that so many of them are making so much money when I can't really imagine the content being stuff that you can't get for free elsewhere. Maybe it's a sign of the times and I'm just not of the generation that gets it?"

Yes, I too can't understand why teenage boys are paying $20+ for something they can find on the internet for free.

^ I've signed up for OnlyFans. For me the attraction is that the girl's personalities come across much more strongly than it does in studio porn, the ones I follow are also highly interactive, which I enjoy. I only follow girls who do BG, so it satisfies my porn itch as well. I've never paid more than $10/month to follow a girl, and I can't explain why someone would pay $20/month just for selfies.

I think there's another niche for guys who like sending dick pics and who want custom videos, as almost all of the girls offer "Dick Rates" and customs.

Yeah but you sort of need it to join a porn site and if you don't need it to join an OF account that might contain adult material then that is likely going to bite OF in the ass sooner rather than later.

Don't get me wrong. I can appreciate that she might have a huge following that I know nothing about being an old fart but You Tube is free while OF isn't and while you might get someone to pay to follow her on a You Tube channel. That person would do so knowing that whatever is there would for the most part PG rated but anyone paying to join her OF account would have expectation that it would definitely not be PG rated and wouldn't remain a paying member long term when the content is for the most part PG rated.

You are correct. This is why you see her sales drop over time in the clip.

It may be in her benefit, and OF's benefit to only post PG content. She made her money, and IF most of her customers are young people using prepaid credit cards, it's great for OF because you can't chargeback on a prepaid.

Half the content creators are scum. You buy a subscription then find out you either have to pay more to unlock a scene or told to message the person to get access (and possibly pay).

I was subscribed to @fit_skywalker for a month - that utter tosser failed to mention every video is a preview and even the pics were preview too. I don't trust anyone on OnlyFans now, and quite frankly they should be banned for false advertisment.

Well, here's one reason given.

'I look nothing like a typical porn star. Last year I made $400,000 on OnlyFans.'

"believes that the rise of OnlyFans is due to less people getting satisfaction and connection from traditional porn.

"OnlyFans is about real connections. You're talking to real people, not an unattainable porn star who you never get to actually talk to," she explains.

"My page is very much about a real and authentic experience. Sometimes subscribers might message me and they're like, 'What are you up to today?' And I tell them, 'I'm actually just about to a grocery shop', or 'I'm in bed and I'm having a play'... it just depends. They're real conversations. I think what equates to success for a lot of pages, not everyone, but a lot of pages, is essentially being in online relationships with these guys.""

"there is a huge feeling of empowerment from being on the platform. "I've got a number of girlfriends who are not traditionally beautiful. They're bigger girls; they've been teased in the past for being unattractive. And it is just so kick-ass and empowering to see these girls earning six figures"

^I've noticed that whenever we get one of these articles then it's usually about an Aussie OF model earning huge amounts of money that depending on the article can be quite different from article to article. I can sort of wrap my head around a You Tube personality or even a popular Tik Tok star having a following that could translate into a decent amount of fans on OF but how does a complete unknown woman who I might add is by porn standard older than your average performer get a fan base so rabid that they earn her nearly half a million dollars each year?

You're asking who would pay 20$ a month for that? Time and time again men have proven they'll pay a lot more than that for a lot less. I'm not surprised at all.

Pat362 is right.
Look at how there seems to be an article a month about the same woman, from different media outlets:

bsonlyfans.jpg

She's a creator with a small instagram following that she only just started, and barely a social media presence over a year ago. She's a boosted creator. Highly likely OF pays for this publicity and she is used as a tool for positive press about OF, and to gain more content creators for OF. There are tons of stories about women like her, or even more attractive than her, giving up on OF after not making any money.

Remember when you used to see an article every month about porn stats, and conveniently all from pornhub analytics? That's because PH spent millions per year on publicity.

This is the same thing

Hmmm... do we have an answer? Does OF boost the income of select performers, and then pay media outlets to run stories on them?

Along with wondering why performers are openly bragging about how much money they make, why are media outlets so eager to run these stories? Is it just sex sells (to men) and female empowerment (to women).

When a performer joins OF, along with OF deducting a portion of their earnings, do they also have to pay any upfront fees?

I get these articles from an Australian women's outlet. On this articles FB page, I made this comment, then got the following response.

Me: "I can understand people paying for a well known person, but why would thousands of people pay $20+ a month for images of someone they've never heard of, that they could find similar on the internet for free? It all sounds like some kind of pyramid scheme scam."

A woman's response: "because men are idiots. They pay for what they can get free or online 🤣 paying for it from a "normal" person suits their type/kink/fetish & gives them the fantasy/delusion that this normal woman is realistically obtainable, that's where they hook them in with private viewings & photos on top of the subscription 🤣"

^ thanks for that. Most interesting.

I actually found the comments of others more thought provoking. So OF will actually intensively promote a performer and then take a much larger proportion of their future earnings. As said, like the music industry.

And those women actually showing their documentation to prove they are earning tens of millions of dollars on OF. Again, why would any performer do that?

[mod edit: no pics or screenshots from onlyfans please]

I subscribed to a few creators on Onlyfans, paying for the sub (not the free ones) and got bombarded by upsells.
I can understand private, custom messages, but $5 just to unlock a video a few days early?

OF makes porn feel like mobile gaming where everything is a DLC or micro transaction.

When I started my site just a few years ago, I offered 4K, 60FPS videos available for download. I only asked $9.95 at the time (it's $14.95 now that I have more videos) without any upsells or hidden charges on the payment form. I had to deal with customer chargebacks and the semi-frequent, hateful emails accusing me of overpricing and being a ripoff. Can you imagine that?

Upsells aside, I like how OF makes the experience mobile friendly so it is easy to dispense and digest small bits of content.

A huge benefit I did not realize, is the huge customer payment database. Once you are on the platform, it is easy to subscribe to multiple creators. With traditional paysite porn, even if we are all using the same payment system - such as EPOCH - you have to enter your payment info every time to subscribe to a new site. That creates a lot of customer friction, especially on mobile. (there's a way around this but it's best left for another topic)

I've waited so long to try onlyfans because many of my friends have subscribed to content creators but came away with nothing but bad opinions from lackluster updates, to the upsells. Now I see the good and the bad. I know it's up to the creator to set pricing and they are free to maximize their revenue, but OF gave them the tools to somewhat degrade the experience. I'm curious what their chargeback rates are like.

If anyone wants to know if a particular OF creator is worth subbing, let me know and I can have a look for you.
Or if you have suggestions for who I should sub to, would be greatly appreciated.
This is a write-off for me, as I am browsing different creators to get a sense of how they work to best present themselves and maximize revenue.
So far, it has not been pleasant. Many are just rehashes of their twitter feed, and constant messages asking for unlocks, tips, and DMs.

Mia Khalifa, for example, is atrocious. She posts censored content, asking you to unlock for $100, even after you paid the subscription. If you really love her, and want to support her, this isn't a bad way, but $100 for a short strip video is poor value.

Look, I don't mind that these girls are making their bag and for the first time ever in porn, they're more in charge of their content and have direct access to its sales and the resulting money.

But from a consumer standpoint, it's an absolute shitshow if issuing a chargeback on a transaction ends with your account getting banned. I understand they do this so people don't simply purchase content and then issue a chargeback, thereby costing OF a lot of money.

But when you have content creators like Vina Skyy who simply take your money in advance for a scene in the form of a campaign
--which is basically a OF feature where you tip towards a goal to be fulfilled and some times the girls will say they will only send a scene when the campaign is filled while others realize that the campaign goal may never be fulfilled and send it out as soon as you tip---
but Vina, on the other hand, takes your money, restarts the campaign for the same scene multiple times in a month, and when asked about when she will deliver the scene, says "as soon as it's ready".
This has been happening to me for the past month, but judging by the comments on her posts (which she has now disabled because everyone was calling her out on her bullshit), others have tipped as far back as May and still no delivery.

So basically, she has no way of tracking who has tipped toward her campaign because she keeps restarting them, and people who have tipped towards her campaign have no way of a refund because chargebacks = ban.

Thanks for sharing another one to avoid. Based on that info, she may not even be managing her onlyfans.

That's the worse part.......it sounds like a huge swath - perhaps the majority - are not running their onlyfans, which goes against the spirit of the platform.

Fansly looks the same.

Pay for a subscription, but then have to pay to unlock posts. This is exactly why pirating is encouraged by people. If these people want to charge outrageous money and falsley advertise their content, people will seek it elsewhere.

I'm under no impressions I'm actually talking to the creator. Sometimes I may be, other times maybe not. And I don't care for it, nor do I mind that these girls have someone managing it. Like would you want to stare at 10,000 dick photos every day? or even answer 10k DMs a day?

That's not what I follow these girls for, it's for content, candid and otherwise, that's it. The option of having them film something that they otherwise wouldn't for studios is also why.

For me porn has to be collectible so the quality has to be good. I mean it has to have a unique selling point. Im not collecting white couch sex videos. It's nice to have a bit of story like Vixen or Deeper have. It's clear that effort went into it and it's worth watching a good scene again. I don't see that on OF at all. Imagine if some random actor would say: to hell with Paramount I'm going to record my acting skills with my iPhone and post it on onlyfans. Would I be interested? No.

I would argue that OF creating new platforms is a sign that their current one is becoming less and less lucrative as time goes by because if they have to pay a million dollar to create buzz for their existing platform then that's a million dollars less in their pocket.

I love Emily but pornstar is just a popular made up term without specific definition. Anything in porn is too much of a niche especially nowadays with so much content and no massive productions that would draw attention in media or reach common people. If you get booked by companies to perform in a porno that is just her definition of pornstar.

If you Google it you get:

"A whore with a camera"
"Any person who performs a sexual act on camera"

https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Porn%20Star

Dis you seriously use the "urban dictionary" for your definition of the word pornstar? Ok, that's lame.
OnlyFans stars are just amateur pornstars, something that has been around in porn since the late 80's when porn switched from shooting porn on film to VHS tapes

This was you just a minute ago: "Im not collecting white couch sex videos. It's nice to have a bit of story like Vixen or Deeper have. It's clear that effort went into it and it's worth watching a good scene again. I don't see that on OF at all. This thread has many pages and I haven't read them all, so please forgive me if I repeat what has been said. Though I don't have an Only Fans page, various performers who do have spoken positively of this. They said it gives them independence and control over their content. They can create their own content, work with who they wish or solo, set their rates, work from their territory, and do only what they wish to. They can portray themselves how they decide to and let their personalities and interests shine. They no longer have to work just for production companies who control the content or agents. They also have a lot of flexibility in terms of what they can do on Only Fans, such as post videos and pictures, live cam, live chat, sell items, and more.

Two different things unrelated and out of context. To be clear I don't agree with Emily although I would most likely prefer her work and I don't know the performers who do onlyfans I consider both to be pornstars when they have a decent following from shooting porn videos. But really a [insert-genre]star is someone who can't cross a busy street without getting recognized imo. I prefer to use the term performer or adult actress.

Yes, I know. I also had a website in the late 90's. However, the Internet has expanded so much since the 90's- which increases competition for porn production companies and gives us more opportunities to work independently. There was no Only Fans in the 90's nor all these tube sites. Also, nowhere near the amount of live webcam sites there are now. The level of online sophistication has also increased tremendously since the 90's. From what I've learn, porn was mainly on DVD's then. So much more online now.
