As a huge music fan and after being gouged in the 90s by the industry, I have no problems downloading free music torrent files online, however, I've realized that this has consequences and can lower music quality. So what I do now is I pay for my favorite artists, especially if they are little known, mega pop stars like Madonna don't get my money, too bad for them. With porn I do something similar, free porn is everywhere, tubes sites are limitless! The major porn sites don't get my money directly, I can pay for some specific content, Blue Ray DVDs or register on my favorite stars sites but I really have no problem not paying for content! I find the whole IR controversy stupid and offensive, its 2010! The idea of girls/women, who get paid to do pretty denigrating and disgusting things on camera, refusing actors of entire ethnic groups is a reflection of their own stupidity. The idea of respecting "moral choices" of self-proclaim pornstars whose dignity can be easily purchased for about $1500 per scene or $1200 per hour on the escort circuit, is an oxymoron. Some pornstars say they carefully select the actors they work with and personal preference prevent them from doing IR, personally I find that really hard to believe, logically it should mostly a question of money not race, but not everyone is graced with a logical mind it would seem. I think pornstars say things simply to cater to their fans/clientele. At the same time, fans who hound non-stop pornstars who don't do IR are silly, taking comments from pornstars as gospel is silly, getting angry based on their comments is even more silly; racists pornstars will never admit their racist ideology because it would hurt their bank account. I don't care what Alexis Texas, Nikki Benz or Diamond Foxx have to say, I'm much happier with the fact that I do not pay to watch their content. Some surprise me with their stand, to see how some stars defend their ethnic background is really funny to me as well, a good example is Isis Taylor, she's Peruvian/Israeli/Irish, not black, OK!!! LOOOL Who cares? It's irrelevant, what matters is if she spreads her legs or not and how she takes cocks. If she's pretty does not mean that Peruvians women on a whole are hot chicas... I have some suspicions about her so I'm very happy to add her to the list of pornstars whose content I never pay for! I'm sure racists can be found in porn, racists can be found in every place in the world, I don't waste my time to investigate each of them. Personally, I think the biggest problem in porn today is its move to the mainstream and its size. I consider myself a normal male with a good sex appetite but super rough anal, ass-to-mouth, messy facials, golden showers and so many other sex acts so common in porn are way too disgusting. If I have a daughter one day, I'd rather shoot myself than tell her that these things are ok, too many girls are willing to sell their souls away for a quick dollar without fully considering the consequences. By posting here, I clearly watch porn to satisfy my voyeurism and I do like sex (I'm not a Jesus freak) however porn would be in a better place if it shrank by a good 50%. Too many girls see porn as a logical career choice like being a nurse or an office worker; too many call themselves porn "stars". Also I don't see much difference between prostitution, escort and porn, in the end it's someone getting paid or paying for sex. Porn and escorts having a richer clientele doesn't legitimize much in my book but I don't hate them nor do I hate prostitutes for that matter. I have traveled a lot in my life, I have met people in so many countries, experienced so many cultures that I can say with certitude that no one person can ever represent an entire country. Nikki Benz is Ukrainian and seemingly racist and yet I've met a group of Ukrainians in South Africa and they were very cool with Africans. I've been to Peru 3 times now, and I have not met anyone ashamed of having black ancestors, Peru has a good number of black people like many latinamerican countries and is not a Japanese mostly country. In fact, white latinos in those countries are proud of the important culture blacks add to their countries so I don't understand why Isis Taylor is making such a big deal with IR especially when her husband is biracial. Dominicans unfortunately do have major issues even sham with dark skin, black people, what Sami Sosa did to his skin is a good example. I think the huge controversy in porn about IR is mostly centered in the USA because Americans are really an insular people. I think it's really funny that in Europe, where white people are really from, IR is not a big deal whereas in the USA where most people have mixed DNA heritage it is such a big deal.. If Americans were more aware of the rest of the world and the fact that the USA is not the center of the universe would do a great deal in solving their problems. If someone had traveled and personally seen the beauty and great people found in Africa, Latin America and Asia they would not be racist but by living in gated communities surround by people who look just like you and think like you, one would be more susceptible of being racist and xenophobic. So that was my 2 cents, a long text for a nuanced opinion, porn must evolve, downgrade and change or risk imploding... No disrespect to Stormy Daniels but the body can only take so much and after so many years of performing, she has done all that can be done already 2 or 3 times over.. Peace out! Again, if one is concerned about any supposed downturn in the porn industry, one needs to fight the battles one is capable of winning. Improve distribution methods and product quality... I see it as a form of protest, crap will not rewarded, even if some studies show that people who buy music also download.. But NewRomancer raised several good reasons why people download for free, industry should understand those reasons. The way the music biz has adapted by allowing single track purchases instead of forcing to buy an entire album, increased quality and lowering the costs of music will allow it to survive. However from on only the good artists will make it big as it should be. If people who can afford to buy porn choose not to do so it's for many reasons, yes free is always better but also cheap and repetitive porn is not helping either. Pornstars acting like drama queens, bitching left and right is also a turn off for me, porn is certainly not an art form. A good pornstar will be able to preform sex with any male or female actor because she is that good, if she can't handle an established actor it is because she's weak. Pornstars need to relax and realize their place in the world, they are NOT feeding the poor or achieving world peace. I like Sasha Grey, she assumes her role well. The way pornstars are so readily available to the public has taken away the fantasy aspect for me. Porn used to be, at first, hot girls I'd like to fuck but couldn't but now every girl escorts and dances; while it is not a big deal for me, I don't fantasize about strippers much. U.S. District Judge Kimba Wood agreed with 13 plaintiff record companies that LimeWire's parent LimeWire LLC and its founder Mark Gorton didn't offer any supervisory control with their peer-to-peer software that mostly distributes music, as well a well-stocked inventory of pirated porn. On Tuesday, she granted summary judgment to the labels. "There is substantial evidence that LimeWire had the right and ability to limit the use of its product for infringing purposes, including by implementing filtering, denying access and supervising and regulating users," Wood said. "LimeWire has not exercised any meaningful supervisory control over LimeWire users’ infringing activity, or provided a legitimate reason for its failure to do so." Wood's ruling was a landmark one for the plaintiffs, which included Arista Records, Atlantic Recording Corp., BMG Music, Capitol Records Inc., Elektra Entertainment Group Inc., Interscope Records, Laface Records, Motown Record Co., Priority Records, Sony BMG Music Entertainment UMG Recordings, Virgin Records America Inc. and Warner Bros Records Inc. In the case, the labels hired Dr. Richard Waterman, a statistics professor at Penn's Wharton School, who looked at a random sample of 1,800 LimeWire files and concluded that 93 percent were copyrighted and unlikely to be licensed for download through LimeWire. "Dr. Waterman next logged the number of times LimeWire users sought to download each of the files in the sample," Wood said in her ruling. "Based on these results, Dr. Waterman estimated that 98.8 percent of the files requested for download through LimeWire are copyright protected or highly likely copyright protected, and thus not authorized for free distribution." Wood's 59-page decision primarily was based on a unanimous U.S. Supreme Court ruling involving file-sharing service Grokster. In the 2005 decision, the court ruled that entities that distribute a device with the object of promoting its use for copyright infringement, "as shown by clear expression or other affirmative steps," is liable for third-party infringement, even if the device is also used lawfully. LimeWire created its service in 2000, six years prior to the record companies suit. The company at one point describes itself as the world's most popular peer-to-peer file-sharing service, with more than 50 million monthly users. LimeWire issued a statement on Wednesday after analyzing the ruling. "LimeWire strongly opposes the court’s recent decision," the company said in a statement. "LimeWire remains committed to developing innovative products and services for the end-user and to working with the entire music industry, including the major labels, to achieve this mission. Wood set a June 1 conference at U.S. District Court in New York for further proceedings. The four largest music labels are considering whether to seek an injunction prior to a status conference Wood scheduled for June 1. Does filesharing affect the creative industries? I would say the answer is a resounding yes. I provide piracy protection (removal from one click file hosting services, torrents etc) for a number of IFPI record label clients', smaller labels and a couple of pornographers. They simply wouldn't collectively employ my services if it didn't have a positive outcome for their businesses. The file sharing issue is even more acute for porn. For instance, even in today's more liberal society, an extensive porn collection is not something that most individuals would freely admit to or proudly display in the living room for all to see. Most of the people I know who paid for porn in the past, did it because there were simply no other means of obtaining hard-core pornography (particularly for free!). In fact, some of them used to pay up to £500 per year in order to get their porn fix. Now they don't have to pay at all because a lot of it is freely available on one-click file hosting services like Rapidshare et al. Moreover, they don't have to physical store porn where girlfriends, wives & parents could potentially find it. Apart from a coterie of dedicated fans, very few casual porn viewers have any kind of allegiance to studios, directors, websites and even actresses – the average porn watcher is just looking for titles/scenes they can masturbate to in the comfort/privacy of their own bedroom. If the loyalty isn't there in the first place, they're unlikely to purchase a DVD/Scene as a consequence of watching that scene for free. It's probably thus fair to that rampant file sharing is pernicious to the porn industry. There are so many files out there, than can never be put back. The internet is great, but it has ruined / is ruining a few industries. Music, Second Hand shops, Travel shops, Computer Shops, Newspapers and Magazines. My solution is a quick Tank you button for each female porn star or studio or male actor you like, after your download. Give them a quick Paypal 50 cents.
