I don't think that's a completely fair comparison for 2 reasons. The first of which is that his career trajectory at this point would have already had him working less for other people (and having less scenes out). The second, and more important is that his right after the accusation, he wasn't working much at all for about a month or two, which would directly affect the amount of scenes he has coming out for the past 6 months.

^ Could you expand on your point about his career trajectory? I'm not sure what you mean by that.
As to your other point, I think that's a fair objection. So I totaled the scenes between the start of February this year to the end of June and compared it to the same time period the year before:
Feb. '16 to the end of Jun. '16: 24 scenes
Feb '15 to the end of Jun. '15: 182 scenes
Still a pretty significant difference in his bookings.

Actually it is all in the money , as a producer trying to establish himself he probably doesn't want his scenes to be found everywhere , if you want to see him you buy his own products , much like what Rocco does they're both among those very few male performers in demand either by straight men and women , he has female fans , there were even those who accepted to shoot a porn scene just because they wanted to fuck him. I believe he earns way more as a producer then he would as a mere performer.
So the actual question is:
Does he earn less now than before he was accused?
I don't think so

^ Yeah, I'm not so sure subscriptions to his own site/DVD sales are enough to off-set the precipitous drop in bookings he has experienced. I mean, he lost a significant number of fans over the accusations so I think you're overstating his present drawing power quite a bit.

You're still not account for the delay between shot and released. The scenes he shot from November to January would be the scenes releasing from February to June (and longer). If you wanted a truly fair comparison (or something close to it), you'd have to look at something like June-November of last year vs. June-November of this year.
^
And you have to remember that he only gets paid once for any of those scenes, but he gets paid for each sale of the movies and each sub to his website. So it has always made sense for him to focus less on shooting for other people and more on shooting for himself as time goes on, as he gets paid continually for that and not just once. All of the most popular male performers have basically done the same thing (Rocco, Manuel, Mick, Lex, etc.). Again, I'm not saying it's not down, I'm just saying that the drop isn't a bad as the numbers make it seem.

I just tried to find any reliable data on how much an an average porn membership site makes every month. I can't really find anything, so I wish someone with actual industry experience would weigh in on this topic. But I have vague recollections of a conversation I read on this site which suggested the profit margins aren't that high. I mean, there are the upfront costs of hiring the crew and talent, paying for equipment, for web design, etc. Then the payment processors get a cut. And then there's any investors he might have who get their cut. And again, his popularity took a big hit as a result of the allegations, so it seems reasonable to believe he lost a lot of subscribers.
His bookings have declined by over seventy percent if my figures are correct. That's gotta hurt. I think you're both underselling significantly the financial hit he's taken. With the exception of Rocco, all the male performers on whatsatelephonebill's list still shoot a lot of scenes with companies aside from their own. Seems they still need the outside revenue.
As for the delay between filming and releases, we'll have to revisit that in a few months and see I guess.

Don't forget the possibility he's just inclined to work less now. If he's not guilty (or even if he believes he's not guilty) of the allegations it's not crazy to think he'd be put off by the industry to some extent.
Really there are any number of reasons that he could be working less right now that have nothing to do with the industry shutting him out. I think the only thing you can point to with any confidence at all are the producers who have gone on record (here or elsewhere) to say they won't be working with Dean anymore. All the rest (like much of this thread) is speculation.
If a member here that I had had sex with tweeted that I had raped her, I'd be much less inclined to spend time here. Just sayin.

This is a terrible and useless analogy. You're posting anonymously and intermittently on an internet porn forum. This has no relation, whatsoever to the case at hand.

Just realized my figures are probably off by a bit. I didn't take into account that a number of the scenes released during both of the time periods I looked at were probably re-releases on comps. Doh. I could go through and weed out the comps to get the exact correct figures but, again, I don't really have the patience to do that. So I'll just assume that the rate of comp re-releases is fairly constant and therefore doesn't impact the totals too drastically.

^^His production is way down. Other than his own company, he's shot with Elegant Angel, Reality Junkies, Eroticax, and Jules Jordan this year. He's shooting rough stuff for a site called bang.com.

From what I have read, the time line and lawyer aspect is accurate, though imo he is far too smart to tell Cal/Osha to "shove it". Does the blogger have an agenda? Sure. Is it openly hostile? Sure. However that doesnt make the events and people false.

^^For one thing, take the headline " Porn to James Deen: You're Fired"
Really?
I've seen him in about a half dozen scenes in the last 2 weeks and know for a fact that he's currently working.
2nd, if anyone in porn speaks about Weinstein or any other initiative, they use the pronoun 'we'. When deen dies it, she acts like it's a crume.
Plus, as she did mention, he was the head of APAC so he, more than others can say " we" .
Read her Twitter page, 99% of it is about James deen.

HI
not bad of company we return work with him
Elegant Angel the only one who does not have enter this story of exclusion
For me James one of the best pornstar after Manual for me James the second
Unfortunately, James is not been no success with Evil Angel there are no good ideas as Manual or Adriano
despite that many porn stars want work with him as Manual
James made stupid movies with Evil Angel he wants to work with these friends ONLY
on the contrary Manual and Adriano who works with the best girls
James has made these scenes with friends and with amateur !!! sextape !!
for it does not have succeeds to Evil Angel
another thing Evil Angel has not given the way for James to make these movies
Rocco, Nacho .... have finished, they must retire is that despite
Evel Angel gives many means to make these movies!

Apparently she has agreed to have nails put through her breasts and been whipped until bleeding. I doubt there is anything Deen could do in a porn scene that would phase her.

^Thanks for that. I have now read both articles and I have deleted my previous post. Now maybe I'm reading the articles wrong and if I am then you can enlighten me but I fail to see where he did anything wrong? As far as I can tell he hired the producer to make a documentary about himself and while she was nearing the end of filming the documentary. The rape allegation surfaced and she went back and interviewed the victims(not sure if any were in the previous footage) as well as some of the same people she had previously interviewed asking them about those rape allegation. Since he was technically speaking the owner of the documentary by virtue that it was his production company that hired Maria. Why wouldn't he be allowed to do what he wants with it? If I'm reading this correctly then she is asking for 150,000$ for the extra footage she shot that were all about the rape allegation and not about the previous footage.

If I had to guess (and this is mostly conjecture on my part), it looks like he might be able to take ownership of the finished documentary and do whatever he wants to it (shelve it, recut it with it being less critical towards him), but he may not own the actual interview footage that goes along with it, and he is/was trying to use the last payments plus the release of the doc to try to get her not to use the footage to make something else that may not be as flattering towards him. And once he realized that might not work, he allegedly stole the release forms to assure that she couldn't use the footage at all.

Stoya didn't.
And for the record, why would she lie. She did nothing but damage her career, her brand her name and a recently launched website. She had exactly nothing to gain from talking about what happened.

People who lie don't always have financial gain(and that's debatable if she didn't. And maybe her gain was seeing James Deen's livelihood hurt) as their sole motivation. There's many toxic relationships out there between people who do things that only make sense to them.
Also I'm gonna have to see evidence of her hurting herself by this(which could be a miscalculation on her end, I could see her expecting gain before doing this and backfiring in the end) by examples like her site hits and subs going down, her looking for work and being denied etc. things like that. The same way we've seen James Deen's losing a ton of work/income since this ordeal. I'm not just gonna take your word for it.

I think it's odd that this still being debated...but probably not since it's obvious that so many people have their own definition of rape, how people should react to it and how it should be handled.
From what little I've read about this in my mind they're both telling the truth and both truly believe what they're saying. It's all about perceptions. Stoya is telling the truth about Deen because for the most part "rape" happens when someone haves unwanted sex with a person. I can totally see that happening with Stoya. Many people seem to think that rape is a girl being attacked and held down as she shouts "No!" as the evil guy just ignores her and keeps on pounding away on her. That's more of a sexual assault type of thing. Rape can be as simple as the guy forcing himself on a girl who doesn't want to have sex when it's clear she doesn't want to. Do girls fight back when this happens? In many cases "no". Maybe they do a little, maybe not all because it's just an unpleasant annoying but hurtful thing but not something they feel is worth physically fighting over in a fight they can't win. Just because they let it happen doesn't mean it wasn't rape. In the eyes of the guy he didn't do anything wrong because even though she didn't seem into it and resisted a little at first she seemed to go along with it. Eh... no big deal. He was horny and she didn't seem to mind that much. No harm no Foul. In his mind no rape happened because in the end she went along with it.
Next issue is the "Well, if he raped her why didn't she call the cops or report it?!". I don't know...why you report the friend or relative that stole from you? The friend or relative you know committed a crime? The friend who brags about cheating on his taxes. The co-worker you know is doing things against company policy at work? The person you know who sells drugs. Or anyone you know who broke or breaks the law? Perhaps because you don't want to see a friend get in trouble. Perhaps it's not worth the hassle. Perhaps you don't see it as something so bad that it merits the punishment they might get. I would image this would be true with Stoya and most of the girls who've accused Deen of rape also. I remember the girlfriend of a stand up comic telling the story of an older guy friend who was visiting her and all of a sudden out of nowhere just jumped on top of her and forced sex on her. She says she resisted at first but he just kept on going and she just finally went along with it. She was raped by her long time older friend. What was she going to do call the police? It was a friend she cared about and she wasn't going to report him to the cops to see him get locked up regardless of the very shitty thing he did. There was no hate behind it. He didn't want to hurt her. It didn't traumatize her but it did annoy her freak her out and damage their friendship but it wasn't worth putting him behind bars over. So she didn't report it. It sad but totally understandable.
This for the "Why speak up now" crowd. We all know people who are assholes, thieves, cheaters, etc...that he just come to accept are just the way they are. We mention it to friends or whoever but don't go public with it because we don't feel the need to and/or simply believe most people know the score with that person so why bother. You can know just what type of person that individual is for years and never feel the need to publically speak up about that person because there's no real need to. But out of the blue something happens that suddenly makes you feel something needs to be said. Perhaps a co-worker gets an award for their supposed hard work when you know they clearly don't deserve it. Perhaps it's a city official you know that has repeatedly done shady things in the past getting an award for doing a great job. Perhaps it's a friend who happily accepted a marriage proposal from a person you know that has been cheating on them during their whole relationship. It's easy for others to jump down your throat and demand to know why you never mentioned this before. The truth is simply that you didn't feel the need to speak up before but now this thing happened and you think people should know the truth about this person. It's just that simple.
So yeah, I believe Stoya and all the other girls when they say they were raped because they had unwanted sex and that's what most people see as rape. And yeah, I'm sure Deen thinks what he did wasn't rape because these girls are pornstars and this is what they do and it's no big deal. Some girls might've been perfectly okay with him doing that to them because of who he is and others might've reluctantly just had to go along with it because of who he is even though they didn't want it. Was it worth risking them getting blackballed or them getting Deen blackballed over Deen doing such a messed up thing to them? Was it worth the girls going against such a likeable pornstar with so many fans who think they know the real Deen and will defend him to the end? Nope. Probably not. So they just keep it all inside and don't cause any trouble. But when others speak out they feel happy to know it wasn't just them and feel the need to support others they feel have been wronged. Perfectly understandable if you're open mined and don't see one side as the enemy.

All your points are well made. There is only one problem:
In Stoya's case they don't apply. The second she used her safe word, the game was over. It's trite, but he took more than her body. He took her trust.
Other people have been blackballed for far less.

^ Yes, the use of the safe word is key. Still, Draxxx makes important points worth bringing up again and again.
^ This in particular is worth dwelling on. Men and women are socialized to think sex is something men get out of women. We are told there is a chase and men need game to win over the woman. This is why in many cases men don't think what happened was rape--pushing the woman to have sex is part of the conquest and a little resistance is to be expected. Slut-shaming of women also directly contributes to/is part of this toxic understanding of sex.

Maybe somebody knows this but was Stoya dating James at the time of the incident? If yes, then did they stay together afterwards? No matter what side of the argument you happen to be on. It's obvious that we really don't have a lot of facts and maybe more than anything else. That is why some people are having a hard time deciding if James is guilty.

I completely agree GGG that the stigma against women enjoying sex is huge, but still feel that the safe word, and it's meaning and use in BDSM the community takes this to an entirely different level.

Yes they were living together and by all accounts very happy. She left immediately after the encounter and went into seclusion. If I recall right she vanished for about 3 months, went totally dark. That time frame may be wrong.

Not to get too political but in the society has truly strayed department. Americans just elected a man who was accused by at least 15 women of sexually assaulting them and he even bragged about doing it on tape. I'd say that is a lot more fucked up than that some people are unwilling to crucify James for accusation that were made on a social media platform but where no actual details were given. If Stoya were to have an interview where she describes everything that James did to her than maybe the number of people willing to defend him would disappear.
