For example I was watching a very poorly encoded DVD 9 last night. It's a new release called 'Straight to Sex' (Heartbreaker Films). That's Nina Mercedez's studio. Now there's around 3hrs 40mins total content on that DVD9. Main feature is 2 hours and 3 bonus scenes totalling 1hr 40mins. The average video bitrate of the main feature from memory was around 4,800Kbps. The result? Very poor picture quality. Especially in the blacks. Lots of compression artefacts. What the studio should've done is released it as x2 DVD9 discs instead of cramming so much footage onto 1 disc. If they put the 2 hour main feature on disc 1 and the features on disc 2 this would optimise the bit rate. It should eliminate all the compression artefacts incidentally. As an aside I also noticed in this DVD the flesh tones were very inaccurate. The skin looked like 'Hot Pink'. Very unnatural. Another studio that always had terrible flesh tones was Baby Doll Pictures / Cherry Boxxx. Please fellow members.... if you value good video quality don't waste your money on 'Straight to Sex' (Heartbreaker Films). Terrible video quality.
