PUNK ROCK is a good one. My favorite Carter Stevens film.

Lorelei (1984)
Picked this one up on the off chance not knowing anything about it and didn't remember seeing it when deciding what new films to watch, but it has Kay Parker in it so chances are it could be good or so I thought. For someone who likes plot and storyline this was a let down. Jam packed with sex scenes, credit where credit's due some were pretty good, but for me it jumped from one sex scene to the next far too quickly forgetting the plot in the process. I've promised myself that I won't turn off any more movies, this one pushed me to my limits and then some.
For those who don't care so much for plots and story lines chances are you might like this one, like I said there's some good sex scenes.

I've seen Take off, but for some reason haven't checked out Punk Rock, which is better the soft or hard version?

I haven't seen the soft version, as I don't usually watch soft. So, I say go for hard! Even the hard version has a high percentage of plot. I think the last half hour has only one sex scene. I recall Carter Stevens remarking on forgetting it was a porn movie, or something to that effect. In a good way, of course. :)

GGG, the 'forgetting it was a porn movie' comment was in relation to PLEASURE PALACE, where the last 20 min or so have no sex.
The R rated version of PUNK ROCK is well worth watching. It's almost a different movie. Tons of backstory and additional plot footage is included. In fact, it runs 15 min longer than the X cut.

^I just recently watched After Hours Cinema 3 Film Collection of Carter Stevens and in the interview he goes on to say the R-Rated version includes two more Punk Bands that alone has me wanting to watch the R-Rated version.

Too bad they didn't put the hard and soft version on the same release. I still have to pick up Pleasure Palace if it's not OOP as that's my favourite Stevens release.

It's a good way to milk profits and force fans to double dip to get both cuts.
But by having a soft-only DVD, they can likely get it sold by many retailers who wouldn't even consider it if it contained the hard version.

The Cal Vista release is full frame and tape sourced. Buy the AHC edition because it's both better quality and Carter actually makes a little money off of it.

I watched Diary of Love yesterday which is a XXX adaptation of the movie The Notebook. I hadn't seen this movie either until today and upon viewing I have to give Smash Pictures lots of credit for doing just what they advertised in making this picture. They do make one change from the story as told on the big screen but it should in no way detract from the viewing experience. At least it didn't for me. I am not a huge fan of The Notebook having only watched it once but Smash took great care in making their version and if you were curious about the movie then definitely give it a shot. Presley Hart is very good in the lead female role and I watched Ritchie Calhoun in the American Werewolf in London parody last year I think and thought he wasn't bad and he was solid here too. Lily Labeau appears as well doing a good outdoor scene. In fact there are only four sex scenes in the movie total plus a false start with Presley & Ritchie which fit perfectly in line with how the story flowed in the Hollywood version. Perhaps I should get to work on a review, lol. It's a very good movie and I was pleasantly surprised.

Between vacation and general busyness, I haven't done much film watching lately, but here are some brief blurbs on the last month or so of viewing.
Spitfire
Outstanding Cecil Howard film. R. Bolla is a corrupt politician pushing a morals campaign, though his family hardly fits the bill -- wife Samantha Fox and nympho daughter Tigr supply loads of heat. Endless machinations as everyone is scheming for something, plotting against everyone else. Who you gonna trust? Pretty much no one. Great tale.
Memoirs of a Chambermaid
This romance novel of a movie, directed by Eric Edwards, often skirts around its few hardcore elements (this is not a criticism). The first sex scene is almost completely softcore. All scenes are slow paced and emphasize the romantic and sensual side. Lots of kissing and mushy music. It would take very little editing to make this full-on softcore. Krista Lane, with whom I wasn't familiar (a lovely redhead with magnificent breasts), is a blocked writer who rents an old house for the summer to try to work. She finds the diary of a chambermaid from the 1800s. The maid writes of her love for the handsome younger son of the manor. As the writer reads the diary, characters from the past appear to her (very sexually). She doesn't know if she is losing her mind or if the place is genuinely haunted. All is romantic and lush but creeps along very slowly, with way too much of the movie consisting of Krista reading the diary aloud.
Fountain of Innocence
This takes place during a porn movie shoot -- History of Sex, Ron Jeremy directing. Taren Steele plays a newcomer about to make her first film. Nervous, she goes around asking questions of the experienced people on the set, getting both advice and practical demonstrations from the veteran performers (Juli Ashton, Shayla LeVeaux, Nina Hartley). The movie comes across feeling like a mockumentary on a porn set. The sex includes both scenes being shot for the film within a film and back-stage shenanigans.
As always, Veronica Hart has the loveliest touch in directing sex scenes, though there are too many close up shots here for my taste. Oh, two scenes were duds, but the rest showed Ms Hart's usual sure touch with sex. I enjoyed this more than I expected.
The X Girls
A lightweight, femme variant on X-Men theme, though about the only commitment to this is in costumes. Drama and action pretty much non-existent. Story developments more hinted at than shown. Hot sex. A few characteristics:
(1) Atrocious acting extraordinaire. I won't insult porn stars who are capable of delivering believable dialogue by saying the acting was bad even for porn; it was bad for anything, from grade school theatricals on down.
(2) Sex scenes that are extraneous to the plot, some to a silly degree. The sex is generally very good, just non-integrated. (The one exception to the good sex part is a g/g between two hot and beautiful blonds that is mostly more lethargic than impassioned. The energy level does pick up toward the end when they share a double-ended dong; unfortunately, I am usually bored by toys.) Lots of very lovely cocksucking as part of the b/g scenes.
(3) Much of this cast could well be responsible for a world-wide silicone shortage. For fans (like me) of natural women, Chloe and Silvia Saint provide a welcome respite.
La Fessee
A tongue-in-cheek French film from the 70s about the joys of spanking. Leon (Antoine Fontaine) discovers early in life his pleasure in spanking women. They discover the same thing, as he is hired by many to have their bottoms blistered, always leading to happy sex afterward. Dubbed in English. Some very lovely sex though in a tame and even repetitive style.

Smash Pictures' "Diary of Love". It's one of the best couples features I've seen this year and shows some very good reverence to the original movie. A few changes (other than the hardcore sex, of course) but they all work quite well. Review coming soon...

Recently watched this also and thoroughly enjoyed it. First time I've seen Brigitte Lahaie (or so I think) in anything and wasn't disappointed at all, and that hospital scene, very, very funny. Good movie and one I would recommend for sure.

I recently watched a new flick called RUBBER BORDELLO that's written and directed by Soma Snakeoil, who also stars as the bordello's madame. It's silent but with an original Ragtime soundtrack (by Soma's real life guy, Fat Mike) that represents its pre-WWI time period and Storyville setting. The black and white flick has a brown sepia-toned look plus many other silent film trademarks like speeded up action, which actually helps quite a bit for all the bondage stuff in this S & M flick. There's not much in the way of plot; it reveals what goes on during a typical day and night at the bordello. In this case, Butch Cassidy shows up and he becomes "Bitch Cassidy" or "Cassie" after the madame and her assistant work him over for awhile. The ladies bring Cassie a female playmate for some straight sex stuff while in another room a wife is whipped and bound into being a sex slave for her hubby, who returns to pick her up at the end; he gets in some spanking out in the waiting area while his wife finishes up in the dungeon area. It's well-done, very wacky and not your typical porn film---!!!!

I hate that 'sped up action' has been misinterpreted as a visual component of silent films. It's not and never was.
The reason many silent films are presented 'sped up' is because they were photographed at different (lower) framerates than sound films. Sound films are shot at 24fps. Silent films were typically photographed at 18fps (and sometimes even 16fps). They were also projected at that framerate meaning that if you'd seen a silent film projected in the teens or 20s, it would have looked perfectly normal.
Modern projectors are usually speed locked at 24fps causing silent films to appear 'fast.'
They were NEVER intended to look that way and anyone claiming otherwise has no knowledge of film history.

Watched the XXX adaptation for 50 Shades of Grey today from Smash Pictures. I haven't read the books for the trilogy so I don't know how close they came to capturing the title but it was interesting to watch a style of porn I don't really watch much at all. It dealt with some BDSM though I suspect they glossed over it and didn't really dig to deeply into the practice otherwise the movie will have really been for a different audience. I will get to work on a review but if you like Allie Haze and think she's a good actress and want to see her in a bondage or tied up style of flick then this is definitely worth checking out. I'd also say Ryan Driller as the character of Christian Grey was also very good in this.

I always thought the sped-up action in silent movies was intentional. I had no idea they were simply filmed at a slower speed than talkies. What you say makes sense.

In this case, the 'sped up action' moves the bondage sequences along at a faster clip; Soma and her cohort quickly tie up folks. By the way, some of the fetish wear even had the wacky stripes look of the period; it sort of reminded me of some of the clothing and contraptions from a strange druggy Fairbanks Sr. flick called THE MYSTERY OF THE LEAPING FISH (1919) that's on u-tube.
9-13...I did a bit of research on the sped-up action of silent films in my handy Film Encyclopedia by Ephraim Katz. Like John mentions above, 24 frames per second became the stardard with the advent of sound movies but the hand-cranked films prior to 1920 were anywhere from 12 frames to 20 frames per second with 16-18 frames being the average as John also mentions.
I also poked around and read up on Mack Sennett and Keystone. In 1912, the earliest Sennett comedies came to us not as 2 reelers or 1 reelers but as 1/2 reelers that were-by design-made to look fast and frenetic. So, Sennett wanted all of those crazed Keystone Cops chase sequences to appear out of control. Therefore, these 'sped-up action' scenes in films of today (like the action in RUBBER BORDELLO, there's one in PINK CHAMPAGNE) are likely homages to these early silent comedies.

Actually managed to find a mangled copy of Firestorm off ebay. It seems to be missing the scene with Eric Edwards and Kay Parker. Just end credits after the tryst with whatsherface. Wondering why a scene with Kay Parker didn't happen earlier in the movie when she was making advances. Why would Cecil Howard have Kay Parker and not use Kay Parker? Didn't get the attraction/ feel the chemistry between the detective guy and the blind girl. Think Neon Nights was the better movie. Kind of glad people balked at paying Cecil Howard's outrageous sums of money to rerelease it.
Saw the new uncensored version of Naked Came The Stranger. Liked the censored version better. Starting to think maybe the adult industry has the right idea in not rereleasing the other half of their catalogs. Blasphemy?

The plot moved along faster. I really didn't need the S and M jokes to understand that she was a troubled soul trying to find her way and that sleeping with her husband was essentially sleeping with a stranger. She is a troubled housewife. I thought the same thing about Samantha Fox's character in Jack and Jill . She is just not that kinky, and I don't think her friends are either. Don't get me wrong--I enjoyed the movie. Run, don't walk to your nearest sleazery to get a copy if you haven't seen it! I just don't think that it's worth paying fifteen extra dollars for twenty extra minutes, esp. when you have some terrific productions being made today that are hundreds of times hotter than anything made in the past, like Revenge of the Petites.

Well, that last bit is strictly a matter of personal taste.
The MSRP of the edited, pan and scan, tape sourced [crap] version of NAKED released by VCA was in the $25-30 range. When they found out they were loosing the rights, they dumped all of their excess copies into bargain basement retail operations, which is probably why you think the new restored edition costs so much more.
Of course, the value of any release is dependent on how much you like the film. If NAKED didn't do it for you, that's fine. But the new release offers more than just the complete version of the film. It's the first time it's been presented in its proper AR ever, on home video. It also features a commentary with Metzger and some killer liner notes. Of course, unless you're a fan of the film, those extras don't make a difference.
But in so far as the cutting, I have to adamantly disagree with you. The version of the film, as released by Distribpix, represents the way Metzger intended it to be seen. Even if you like the cuts made by VCA, they were never artistically minded but rather the overzealous actions of a very paranoid video company. The VCA release is a disgrace; an insult to Metzger's intent.
And, just to be perfectly open, I restored the film and I work closely with Distribpix on all their releases. Still my disdain for the VCA release comes from my desire to see movies the way they were supposed to be seen. Editing and image cropping are never acceptable.
I'm sure some people are also really into the TV cut of MIDNIGHT COWBOY. Doesn't make it an accurate representation of the film.

I totally get what you're saying John. It's a matter of preference, like all those people who thought George Lucas should never have made Darth Vader scream: "Nooooooooo!" when Luke was attacked or have sentimental attachments to certain Ewok sequences.
Every edit is a new movie. Because I saw an edited version first, I am partial to the edited version.Maybe movies shouldn't be edited (this is a conversation for another topic) I am partial to the images I conjured up in my mind to complete the movie. Radley Metz signed off on the cuts being made. He didn't decry his work being abused by VCA.
In my humble opinion (you can say this is wrong) I think that the adult industry as we know it is tremendously incestuous. I say this because I have seen enough porn in these thirty odd years to see the same names come up on other peoples work. If it wasn't meant to be, it wouldn't get done.
I really like Naked Came The Stranger. I don't know if I can bring myself to love a Metzler film because his work is so saturated in a past I was never part of. I see a lot of his worldview most of all in The Private Afternoons of Pamela Mann. This kinky rich couple has expectations of people to be certain things, expectations of gentlemanly behavior. This willful naivete is demonstrated in discussions with the poll worker. I don't see where any of this goes.I don't feel for the characters. Metz seems to just want to make a sex movie and be having a hard time of it.
What Naked Came the Stranger had going for it was the sense of a woman's vulnerability. It ends with the same: "what now" kind of ending that was in all of the others save for Misty Beethoven. Seventy minutes or ninety minutes, it's the same vulnerability. That ride on the double decker bus could not have seemed more uncomfortable!
I think people in the industry today don't give themselves nearly enough credit for what they do and the hurdles they are now able to go over. We should do more to champion those those still fighting the good fight in light of condom laws, std scares, and massive defunding of writing departments, prop departments, equipment departments...

As in, you were not alive then? Or as in, you were alive but did not participate in such lifestyles?
Either way, that must limit your media consumption considerably - you only watch films/read books in which the characters and settings are what you yourself are familiar with? That sounds rather boring. I can see how sometimes a profound identification with a text can make it pleasurable (a film made in my hometown, starring a woman who is just like me, doing all the things I do, for example), but for the most part I do not consume films/books/media that directly reflect me. (In fact, were I to want this, it would be near impossible). I like escapism, fantasy, and all the other joys these forms of entertainment can provide.

I was a kid then. I don't think it's a question of lifestyle ggg. When I think of the word "lifestyle" I think of the number and gender of partners you care to have. I think it's a question of a certain worldview that Metz holds that I don't happen to.I think this worldview was tossed around quite a deal in 1975.It's not as heavy handed as Oliver Stone's films, but it's bad. I have seen the damage Metz's worldviews have caused. I akin it towards furthering the age of entitlement. She is vulnerable, which can be beautiful, but can also be disturbing and weird. The movie holds an anthropologic value to me. He makes conclusions that I don't. Here, she is seen as worthy just because she exists. Maybe she's the problem. Maybe this should all have been written from his perspective. You may read me as boring, and I may read you as someone who cannot escape nostalgia.

^ I don't really follow. Can you explain in simple, clear terms what Metzger's worldview is?
P.S. I'm not sure how I can be nostalgic about an era in which I was not alive. Unless you mean a more complex notion of nostalgia, but this would apply to all media seen as "old."

^ Is that supposed to clarify things? That quote as a response to the various ambiguous claims you have made could be read in a multitude of ways. I'm starting to think you lack the ability to articulate what exactly you mean. If you can't explain what you mean, then don't worry about it - just say you don't have the means to do so. You might of course be a troll, in which case I'm the fool for feeding you.

After careful consideration, I decided my last review was not that great. Too lazy. Not upbeat enough y'know? So I wrote a couple more...and a couple more...and then the next thing you know I just couldn't stop! Hope you like them!
Desperately Seeking Suzie
This is easily one of the most creative porno’s I’ve ever seen in so it's gonna be a bit difficult describing it. Oh sure, it fits within the realm of porn...but it's so much more than that. Such a descriptive term seems limiting. It is directed by Jack Remy and the actors are Billy Dee, Dan The Man, Sizzling Steve Drake, and Greg Derek. This is a movie that relies heavily on technology...but that's not because of a lack of good material. So often directors use technology to cover up for a lack of great sex. Jack Remy makes great porn...and then uses technology to make it even better. These heavily hung hunks, heavenly women, and thick atmosphere won’t let you down. There's a lot of variety in this movie so there doesn't seem to be any one specific characteristic. I’ve watched this about a dozen times so far and am still just getting used to it (!).
Viper’s Place
Wow...what a great movie. I fell in love with Viper as soon as I saw her. I don't have any biographical information about her (except that she is based in Ferndale, California) and her web site doesn't offer any help in that area. The important thing is the story...and in this case you get nothing but a non-stop rollercoaster of exceptional modern erotica. What does the movie look like? It's hard to say really. It incorporates visuals and ideas from so many different directors that it's hard to pin down specifics. One thing is certain. This is definitely not your generic twenty-first century jerk off material. Viper’s Place is smart, upbeat, and instantly familiar. Once I started playing this one it was very hard for me to take it out of the player and continue on to the next DVD in the stacks...it's that good. An obvious contender for the new golden age of porn.
A Little Nookie
Having a hit movie is a blessing and a curse. On the positive side, you get lucky enough to have something that's really really popular and sticks in people’s minds and--if you're lucky--you even make some money. But on the negative side, if you don't follow it up with plenty of other terrific sleaze...you end up being known for one single thing and little else. In the early 1970s Great Britain's Michael Craig was one of the lucky ones. "I Said A Butt Light" was one of the biggest hits of its time...making its way to the number one slot in 26 countries. Michael and his crew were able to ride the wave of popularity for a few more years even though they never had much success with any of their follow up flicks. In 1975 things got shaky...and that was the end. But eventually Craig decided to pick up the ball and continue running...which brings us to the present day. Not long ago he began plowing through tons of casting couch material and decided there was enough valid heat to release this. In many cases issues of unreleased material like this can be a disappointing affair. But this is not one of those cases. Yes, some scenes are better than others...but there are so many fantastic little bits here that they make this tape more than worth your while. If you appreciated the two Savannah vids that were issued after her death, there's a good chance you'll go ape over this. You do have to use your imagination a bit in some moments to realize what they could have been...but that's no big deal at all. Hopefully this release will make folks aware of how much Craig has to offer.
Night Vision
I watched this film at least a dozen times before writing this review. Strange that this smut is entitled Night Vision because it is actually made by Jim Enright, who has terrible night vision and prefers to shoot his works in the day. Even though this man's musings seem very familiar and not strange at all...I've had the hardest time trying to come up with possible influences and/or comparisons. Enright is originally from Melbourne, Australia but now resides in Berlin, Germany. His movies are strangely moody and presented using only the essential ingredients. This guy comes across like a person who's not out there in the adult world trying to impress anyone. Scene 2 seems to be written purely from an artistic perspective. But instead of strange, peculiar compositions...the sex is accessible and easy on the mind and eyes. Five pensive scenes here.
Sex Aliens
Epic porn, this time from Cabellero (a well-known name in terms of quality). The perfect scenes here done by Morris Deal and Ted Gorley range from subtle and pensive to driving and rather intense. The actresses are Blondi, Candi Evans, Lorrie Lovett, Tish Ambrose, and Sheena Horne. I've said this many times before but it bears repeating. I admire folks making adult entertainment because the folks making the adult entertainment are almost certainly doing so out of pure artistic integrity. The plot is about some aliens that come to Earth in search of hard cocks, not the easiest to think about with all the troubles around the globe these days, but the producers here have decided to risk it all…so the performers I think are most certainly aware of the fact that they're playing for a more limited audience. Sex Aliens comes across very much like a patient poem. These scenes were created with great attention to detail and prove immensely cerebral and effective. The paper DVD cover has some beautiful glossy artwork. Cool stuff.

Hey Diablo Canyon One, welcome to ADT. I haven't seen any of the films that you reviewed above. Interesting group from a similar period. Had you seen these films many times in the past or did you recently watch these for the first time? I'm kinda curious to see the Viper flick; I've reviewed a few of those Bob Vosse films and they tend to be pretty well-crafted.

Hi TOMBOne, thanks for the welcome! I purposefully reviewed movies I had not seen many reviews of. I don't have much time to see movies these days with all the volunteer work I do to help give gay people the right to marry, but I try. It is so impossible to choose movies to buy nowadays particularly because they are all so delightful. Bob Vosse films are like my best friend. He tells a good story and tells it remarkably well. Amazing he is still considered an outlaw to some, just because he realized the key to mass appeal was the linking of melodrama with state-of-the-art production values.

Just "something" Tombone? Not many things? Now you're the one being depressing. Take a minute and take a step back to pat yourself on the back!

Dirty Little Secrets
Finally! Brad Armstrong is back with a movie that doesn't have Jessica Drake all over it! (I lost interest in Jessica after she yelled at the make up artists and was too chicken to jump off the ledge in Fallen) Is it any good? Is it as good as say....Just Between Us? Well, that depends. The first thing I should let you know is that this is a non anal movie. The second thing I should tell you is that there wasn't as much money for sets and costumes as is his norm. In a way it reminds me of Exile (which won some awards but I didn't care for it because the music played through the entire scene and the blue and white shots) because of the laconic delivery of the script. The girls are cute. I wish they did more in terms of kink. The lesbian orgy at the end lacks enthusiasm. I was hoping for more from Brad. This is just okay. I know he can do better.

Kate And The Indians
In an interview, Georgina Spelvin said this was the most fun she ever had making a movie. More fun translates to a more relaxed, better performed sex...yes? No. Georgina only plays a non sex role in a film I feel like renaming: "Seven guys, four girls, fifteen dollars, some sandwiches, a jeep, and a desert". While the film has some decent names in it (Kandi Barbour, Jennifer West, and Kay Parker) most of the action after the first scene is fit for sleepless nights and I don't mean that in the good way. The first scene here by Allen Swift is a particularly good indoors encounter concerning a amulet that makes people get kinky. I'm not sure if filming better indoors than outdoors is Allen's modus operandi, since is the only flick he seems to have made (?). Avoid.

Lust Weekend
When people ask me what I want to do when I retire, my reply is always: "live in a cabin by the water". Travelling has it's place, but once you meet enough people from around the world you start to realize how similar we all are, and how we are shaped by the things around us. There's something magical about the water, how it moves, how it stretches, how it plays--that's like nothing else. I don't know if you've ever gone for vacation or fishing, but once you go you always want to go back. Lust Weekend has quite a bit of water in it. It's filmed by Steve Michaels, who also did Touchables 2, and it reminds me a little of some Jim Holiday features. The girls have tight bikini's on, the guys are very muscular and studly, yet friendly and not frat brother like. The sex is great--Stephanie Rage takes a gigantic dildo before doing some lez action, Dina DeVille has a very potent 80's perm and she does anal. Plenty of swinging going on. And yet--with all the great sex, it only exemplifies the water. I thought this was a fun movie to watch.

Definitely have to agree with that assessment. Like DCO, I seem to recall thinking the opening scene was pretty good and was hopeful for the rest (after all, it's hard to go wrong with Kandi Barbour), but the remainder of the movie was one of the premier WTF films of all time. The words "stupid" and "offensive" spring to mind. It's been quite a while since I saw it, else other words would likely follow, too.

American Desire
So many movies in the "Golden Age of Porn" seem to have the theme of rape in them, and I find it impossible to go into a review of this without a frank discussion of it. Rape movies are weird. At the time that most of these rape movies were made, rape was actually down across the United States. I don't know just how real the numbers are, but after the "Golden Age" many a producer has not been too hot to make a rape feature. There's an imposition on the part of the producers of these classics that people want to see rape. And this rape --after it happens-- usually becomes consensual. Why is this here? Is it the idea that rape is a sign of male dominance over feminism? That by raping, they become Dick Almighty? What is the message that is perpetuated by a community of people that let this message go around for years and years without talking about it--that sees it as just entertainment? How can I be entertained by a rape? Maybe I'm off on a red herring, but is the rape here just to sell tickets to people who think? Is rape a myth, perpetuated by women who want to sell me movies like: "Handmaiden's Tale"? If a woman orgasm's when being taken agaoinst her consent, is that rape? We have long needed a discussion in this country about consent. Other countries allow their girls to marry as early as the day their period starts. When we all lived much less longer lives, nobody was waiting til they were eighteen to start a family. It is a cultural idea that there is a time when we are in our right mind to give consent, but cultures change over time, and as we grow accepting of other cultures, what happens to our own? It is a difficult divide. Maybe that's why we gravitate towards these movies as classics--they deal with real adult issues instead of avoiding them.
The movie is well filmed by Lasse Braun, whom I have become increasingly enamored with after avoiding his work for years due to seeing some movies by some guy named Axel Braun. It concerns a couple that could be anywhere and is probably everywhere. He is pressuring her to swing and get kinky, but she feels like that means their love is falling apart. And what kind of man would pressure a woman to do something he wanted against her wishes? Lots of men, and some of them are sadly pretty decent fellows in other ways. Porn very well may put pressure on people to swing, but with maturity comes the understanding that what you want isn't always the best thing for you. Veronica Hart plays a very difficult and complex role here as the wife who gets raped and then makes a game out of it, telling her man about it as if she was the conquoring heroine. Do you think reality will set in later--or are they saved by a rapist? Go see it with an open mind and then come talk to me about it and tell me what you think!

Sometimes Sweet Susan
According to U.S. statistics (which may or may not be correct) about a third of all the people in the U.S. are either in a mental hospital or on head medicine in any given year. Take a minute to let that sink in. Look around. Some of these people are absolutely loco or have been loco or may be loco in the future. If you ever get the chance to see or be in a mental hospital, don't. They are undefunded, they don't segregate the types of crazies, and they are also run by people who may or may not be loco in past, present, or future as standards and values change.
Sometimes Sweet Susan has snappy dialog, passionate sex, and excellent lighting and sets. Yet it is set in a mental institution. It concerns a woman who was raped in a realistic manner and has schitzophrenia because of the traumatic event. It was made by Fred Donaldson, who didn't really stick around the industry. It is depressing as hell which means you can't really wank to it unless you're a sadist.

One Page of Love
Maybe you're the type of person who knows a person who is mentally handicapped who is pretty decent looking and who you would like to throw a bone? If you are, then maybe you'll like this movie, because that's the theme it dances around. I am well aware that the mentally handicapped do have sex lives, and they are probably reading this right now and thinking there is something wrong with me, but I sort of felt that there wasn't enough explicit consent being shown by the writers of this greasy thang. This is a Peter Balakoff film. I don't have any other releases by him and not too many of his movies are out there so I don't really have a grip on what his opinions are. The story is that there's these two sisters that Robert Bullock meets in a one night stand away from his girlfriend. One of them leads a very sexually liberated lifestyle and the other subsists on what her big sis brings home. Things get more complicated when Robert Bullock tries to carry on love relationships with both of them, even to the extent that he kidnaps the sister who is mentally handicapped to try to graft her into a monogomous relationship with him. You will wank (the girls are cute and kinky), but you might feel bad afterwards. Some of the lighting makes me feel like Kramer in the Kenny Rodgers roasters seinfeld episode. An awkward experience, but semi worthy for a head trip. Nice original music to boot.
