The newer Dorcel productions are hit and miss with director Bodilis's stuff being visually interesting but typically weak in terms of feature material. I tend to gravitate towards Dorcel stuff pre-2000 when Laure Sinclair and Christophe Clark appeared in a bunch of titles.

In another thread, I noted watching the fine porn noir Fiona On Fire. Other recent films:
Continuing my traversal of Brigitte Lahaie's works, next up is La clinique des fantasmes in its English-language dub under the title of RX For Sex. We open with Richard Lemieuvre as a derelict in a bar. Approached by a drunk who recognizes him and addresses him as Doctor, he relates his sorry (hah!) tale. He was indeed a doctor with a clientele of beautiful women and their sex-related problems, which eventually overwhelmed him (well, more precisely, the women overwhelmed him). The doctor's sexual adventures with his patients become the movie, amounting to a series of short stories in flashback.
Brigitte Lahaie is a woman dismayed that her husband has lost interest in her (certifying this as a fantasy -- a man lose interest in Ms Lahaie??). As the husband seduces the nurse in the waiting area, our doctor provides comfort in the examining room. Monique Carrère is receiving treatments to increase her bust (apparently successfully); a side effect is a concomitant increase in libido -- she relates to the doctor how her insatiable need drives her to have sex all the time. Sophie Duflot routinely masturbates with a coke bottle; when one morning it gets stuck inside her, the doctor is summoned for an emergency bottle-ectomy, leading to a fourway with two servants joining them. Etc. At the end, the poor doctor is swarmed over by five lusty women at his private clinic; overwhelmed, he decides he can't continue any longer in practice.
As is typical of French sex films of the era, this features gorgeous women and a tone of fun and whimsy. The sex is at times a little weaker than in the best films of that era, although I suspect some of the scenes have suffered from some trimming: they occasionally feel disjointed. Also, lots of intercutting between scenes dampens the heat, though is appropriate to the plot. Perhaps the main weakness was very poor dubbing -- dialogue sounded unnatural and awkward. Still, an enjoyable affair.
I started Stormy Daniels's film Predator, but didn't get very far before dumping it. I bought the movie on the strength of solid reviews, but its extremely ugly visual style drove me off -- once I realized it was going to continue throughout, I stopped watching. Made it through the sometimes hot first sex scene (with some fast forwarding -- way too long) but bailed out during the second, an excruciatingly boring exercise in toy play. Ultimately, though, it was the hideous look that drove me to abandon this, not the overlong, uninteresting sex. Disappointing.
While I am at it, I might as well mention seeing Mystified 1. Not a feature, but a series of sexual vignettes, sort of screen-saver porn in a sensual way. Somewhat Andrew Blakish in its emphasis on making women look beauiful. Can perhaps best be described as pretty: pretty women, handsome men, faux-natural settings, many attractive camera shots, nice lighting, New Ageish music. All nice, pretty looking sex, though the presentation often mutes any raw passion. All is what one might expect when encountering a lovely woman in a forest, dressed in a diaphanous nightgown -- and don't we do so all the time?
Occasional slow-mo adds to a too-tranquil feel. The women tend to be overly aware of the camera. The music lulls. Scenes are long for my taste. But, I don't want to sound too negative. The sex really is quite lovely, the women gorgeous (only one woman didn't appeal to me, only one scene was totally boring), and the technical qualities fine. While not something that grips my attention, it is enjoyable in a sexually relaxed way. Doesn't suck me in, but is pleasant. I understand this was followed up by a couple of sequels; I might try the next one someday.
By the way, I wouldn't recommend watching this all in one sitting -- the scenes have a sameness that becomes wearying, but taken individually they are nice.
By the way, as an unrelated aside to the few of you with whom I sometimes correspond: if you have sent me an email in the last month or so and haven't gotten a reply -- I didn't get it. Some as yet undiagnosed problem has caused me sporadically to not receive email, the messages being permanently lost. Sorry if I have appeared rude -- it isn't intentional!

More of my exploration of two favored performers, Brigitte Lahaie and Kimi Lixx:
Les Retour de veuves
Two guys decide to hit on grieving widows. Using the obituaries to find young women whose husbands have just died, the guys hit the women at a vulnerable time. This rather crass premise is taken lightly -- the widows are eager for a little sexual comfort. For example, Jean-Pierre Armand visits Brigitte Lahaie, posing as a former college friend of the late husband. Though the scene is at first somber in mood, a silly joke (subsequently repeated several times later in the film) breaks the mood of our bereaved lady, who laughs uncontrollably, then hurls herself at the guy, initiating the first of several sexual steps away from her past, married life.
Brigitte and later Serena highlight the cast, with other lovely ladies also filling in, though the guys were rather insipid (well, who am I to judge the guys, though!). It's all rather silly (Elisabeth Bure's character appearing everywhere as she is a telegram delivery person and maid to one of the widows) and disconnected --somewhat like this sentence -- but has nice moments. I especially liked Daniele David as a woman who feels all that's left after her husband dies is food and sex, both featured in her scene, and Dominique Saint Claire as a woman who lost not her husband but her beloved dog -- one of the two guys presents the other to her as a gift, naked, leashed, and on all fours to best suit her needs.
Crazy About You
This feature is structured more by a situation than a real plot: Gina Lynn has a completely repulsive jerk for a boyfriend, played with convincing vileness by Stephen St Croix. He mistreats her, hits on her friends, sponges off of her. The story consists of her friends telling Gina what a louse he is, then pairing off for sex.
There is a limit to how much assholery I can handle, even in service of the plot. St Croix's character pushes well past that limit. Fortunately, Randy Spears appears in her life as the nice guy to open her eyes to something better. (When Gina dumps the bad boy, it seems to come out of nowhere, but I don't suppose we expect too much motivation in a porn movie.)
I picked up this movie to watch the marvelous Kimi Lixx, and she delivered again in a supporting part. She has a lovely g/g scene with a lady named Breena (of whom I hadn't heard before); as always with Kimi, she makes the sex feel passionate and real and looks wonderful to boot. Other than that scene, the sex was mostly decent if fairly routine and often got sidetracked in long, dull close ups. Except for the scrumptious Ms Lixx, I wasn't particularly stirred by any of the the female cast. The score is frightfully dreary -- the music in each sex scene natters on in a droning loop, smothering the scene in a layer of monotony (especially in the coupling between St Croix and Gina Ryder).
Two other movies:
High Rise
Going all the way back to 1973 for this one: an often amusing, sometimes annoying, film, more entertaining than overly arousing. A young woman (Tamie Trevor) is consulting with a doctor or psychologist(?), complaining that sex life with her husband has lost its excitement. The doctor prescribes an exercise to bring back the heat: she is to go to a high rise, knock on random doors, and go with whatever develops. A series of off-the-wall sexual encounters ensues.
This is very much Tamie Trevor's show. She is in every scene; she's cute, curvaceous, and enthusiastic -- what a shame that, according to iafd, this is her only outing. I would have liked seeing much more of her. Each sex scene is shot in a different style, making for an interesting smorgasbord of techniques but not a lot of strokability, if that's what is important to you. One scene is on a bed with mirrors all around, giving a confused merging of the real with multiple reflections, with often fuzzy images of sometimes unrecognizable body parts, and a slow, sensual flow. Another scene is comprised of rapid quick cuts from one shot to another, tangles of limbs, all softcore. The orgy is a fairly boring, semi-psychedelic collection of flashing colored lights, nude dancers, sex, and assorted odd characters, culminating in the film crew joining in (and a very funny theme song), and so on.
If iafd is to be believed on the run time, 8 minutes have been edited out. Anyone know what's been excised?
Looker
Vince Vouyer is a cop obsessed by a serial killer case his father had been investigating when he (the father) was murdered 20 years earlier. The killings seem to have started up again, with a Femme Fatale fucking then slicing her victims. A good premise with suspense and nice attention to mood, though the story is sketched in at best. It could have been more richly developed.
The sex was generally very hot and nicely shot, but everything seemed to run on just a little too much so that I kept finding myself losing interest, both in the sex and, as a side effect, in the plot as we stayed away too long. The exceptions were the first and last scenes, both featuring our killer, Lauren Montgomery, who generated a lot of heat and tension in steamy scenes compact enough to keep my attention while not derailing the story.
The film makers apparently don't want us to hear the plentiful dialogue, as it is almost always buried in ambient noise and musical score. Very frustrating when trying to follow the plot.

IAFD is full of errors, almost as many as IMDB.
Nothing is missing from the current DVD of HIGH RISE. I just scanned the negative in 2K a few weeks ago and there was no additional footage.
But do expect a restored release with a Danny Steinman commentary track hitting the streets by the end of the year, hopefully.

The 'Official Bad Teacher Parody' is awful, but had a lot of potential. Cast is beatiful and consists of great acting skills. However, the plot of each sex scene was rushed and this really ruined the film as a feature for me. For example, in the second scene the teacher leaves the classroom and one of the two students asks 'should we search the handbang for drugs?' and the other replies 'nah lets fuck.' That is literally it. Honestly, it's like some of these writers can't distinguish between a feature and gonzo.

Well I do think this has become an issue or problem the last few years with adult features. I feel they are simply trying to pander to a audience that really isn't prone to liking feature films anyway.

Great movie!
One of the first classics I watched. The incest theme came as quite a shock, no research into the genre, no nothing so watched it totally cold. As good as it was I found it some what uncomfortable the first time around but watched it a few times since and a truly great movie it is, plus Kay Parker is legendary around my part of the world. ;)

^ Have you watched the sequel? It's better than the first, imo.
I watched Revenge of the Petites. Aaaaand...it was awesome!! An actual integrated adult film, ladies and gents. Funny, well cast, well played (they got a lot of mileage out of their absurd anti-petites premise -- funny stuff), well integrated...well...ok, I'm going to save some of this for my official review on my blog. But, I wanted to immediately urge those of you bemoaning the lack of integrated sex in porn to *buy* this movie and show some support.

^I'm glad to hear you liked it I haven't got around to watching mine yet I have a lot of catching up to do on all of the porn films I recently purchased.
As far as Taboo I loved 4 with an all star cast and Ginger Lynn's commentary.
I haven't seen 2 yet the one I really want to see is 5.

^^Sorry for the delay GGG I have not been around too much due to vacation and some other issues. Yes, I have watched Taboo II and I enjoyed it a lot. At first I was comparing it to the first and the fun element was a bit lost on me to begin with but soon got into it when I stopped with the comparisons. I don't know whether I'd say it was better than the first as I felt it had a very different feel, did I enjoy it as much as the first? I'd have to say yes.
Just watched the trailer for Revenge of the Petites it looks great, will be putting in an order for that some time today. :)

Just saw The Graduate XXX. I thought is was a pretty good parody, although I don't remember the original that well. Sex scenes weren't that great all-around, with some seeming conveniently thrown-in to fill space. Well that tends to be my opinion on most features or parodies though. Still I enjoyed watching it.

My first porn movie was porn classic " the devil in miss jones" ,all the parts are quite good but I specially liked the part 2 specially some funny scenes.i have seen first three parts ,first two of Georgia spelvin and third one I liked the gangbang scene of Vanessa del rio. Any one knows if more parts of this classic " devil in miss jones"?
This movie title was used in 90's again for remake of devil in miss jones (Stacy valentine) but I still find the older classic much better then new ones.

^ Gregory Dark's Part 3 is fucking amazing. Part 4 is one of the worst things I've ever watched (it's not really a real movie - more like scraps left over from part 3). Part 3 is a must see.

I watched Confessions of a Teenage Peanut Butter Freak (1976?) on the cautious recommendation of john lyons. He had me at "interesting moments." There certainly were "interesting moments" and in spite of some really amateurish acting and general cheapness of production, I really enjoyed it. It was genuinely funny and weird, with some really interesting editing in places. I could tell they were trying to be creative with a low budget, and that's always nice. You know, when people try - that's really all I ask of xxx filmmakers. The film oozes a trashy charm, which is then amped up considerably when Johnny Holmes shows up and starts doing his thing.
Edit: added some bold.

Three oldies but goodies.
Taboo 2
Since this has gotten some discussion lately, I thought I would take a look. Kevin James's character is constantly hitting on his sister, sweet bodied Dorothy Lemay, and she finally caves in. When Mom catches them, he seduces her as well. Eventually, everybody is doing everybody else, family or otherwise; incestuous frolicking abounds.
In many ways, this is a much better movie than Taboo 1, which often felt fairly clunky. Yet, in one key sense, it doesn't stack up well with its predecessor: where Taboo 1 had a slow build up of tension and mutual illicit desire leading to Kay Parker fucking her son, here Kevin James's character pawing at his sister from the opening frame is just crude and creepy. We get lots of sex and incest, the taboo of the title, but it seems a little more thrown together this time out. Still, very hot. A few sex scenes felt perfunctory, but most were very good.
Touch Me in the Morning
Paul Thomas comes home late from work -- again -- and somewhat tipsy. Wife Veronica Hart is waiting, angry. Bickering, rancorous, they spat, she's not in the mood. He tries to force her, ripping her clothes away, but can't get it up after she laughs at him. They go to bed and lie awake, each frustrated and bitter, and spend the wakeful night in fantasies of sexual encounters never had and memories of better times they did have. Come the morning alarm, they must face each other and the fault lines in their marriage.
Director Louis Lewis gives us an often beautifully shot film -- though, minor quibble, he has a predilection for bright, sunlit windows behind the players; throughout two passages in the movie, perfomers were half invisible in the glare (especially pronounced in a scene with the luscious Lysa Thatcher, who could barely be seen). Characters were believable, thanks in large part to credible acting. Sex scenes made sense and had a fair amount of heat, especially when Ms Hart was involved -- but then, I am not an impartial observer there, as she is and has always been my all time favorite star. A movie worth seeing.
Public Affairs
Henri Pachard directs this excellent story. While not especially original, it is a well developed tale of a sleazy politician (Paul Thomas -- did he always play sleazy or creepy characters?) posturing for the public while pandering to moneyed interests. Annette Haven is a TV reporter trying to expose him. Well written, well played.
The sex scenes are completely integrated into the plot; indeed, they are the primary driving force for the plot. Also, the sex is generally quite good. I just wish we could see more of it: dim lighting, shadows, and camera angles that tease more than they show make the sex much less interesting than it could have been.

Well, whaddya know, I watched Taboo II also. :D
Unlike alpha, I think everything in this movie works. As Mr. GGG remarked while watching, "This might be the greatest overall porn movie ever made." That doesn't mean it's his favourite, but in terms of striking a particular balance of fun, sexiness, smarts, and filmmaking, T2 has it.
I will agree, however, that Junior's advances toward his sister are squarely in the creepy zone.

In the ealy 80s, I saw TABOO for the first time not long after I had seen Bertolucci's LUNA. TABOO's aspirations are admirable but I could not get past Kay Parker's performance and what was expected of her in the acting department. Alpha's right about the build-up to the incestuous stuff in TABOO and how it's mostly missing from II; my complaint has always been in the overall execution of TABOO's build-up with too much being required of Ms. Parker. (And not enough from the rest of of the cast?)
Meanwhile, I watched TABOO II for the first time in more recent years. I loved the over-the-top shenanigans connected to Junior played by Kevin James. Seems like all of the characters get their chance to shine and Kay Parker did not have to carry the film---just be a catalyst for Junior's foolishness. Maybe TABOO II succeeds because it doesn't take itself so seriously, which is probably a good thing when you're stuck with limited resources like porn performers that usually can't act, budget restraints, etc.
Looks like Stevens and his crew followed a similar TABOO II template for PLAYING WITH FIRE.

I also watched Bijou. I guess I'm not really into experimental film. I guess I didn't really like this movie. I did, however, really enjoy the opening segment before the guy gets to Bijou. That was all really cool and interesting.

8 To 4 (1981)
Just finished watching this after a few months lay off from watching the classics. A pretty basic plot of office staff having to put up with two obnoxious demanding bosses (Herschel Savage & Juliet Anderson) and plot a little pay back. Strong cast (Annette Haven, Lisa De Leeuw, Veronica Hart et al) which I've learnt isn't any guarantee of a good show. This wasn't awful by any stretch and the sex scenes were good, overall I thought this was OK to good but to be honest I'm just glad to be back watching some classic era movies again.

800 Fantasy Lane (1979)
A couple of gas station attendants pose as an oil tycoon and his secretary to hoodwink a number of beauties who offer slightly more than just selling real estate.
Jamie Gillis is the main character here and puts in another solid performance. I have to be honest and say I was enjoying this movie up until the hour mark where it goes into a dream like fantasy world when the characters smoke some pot. We get some of the girls transformed into zoo animals and there's a lion tamer, there's also a ten foot penis which is carried around in a wheelbarrow. Don't let this put you off as it's a very very good scene but I tend to like movies that are more serious in nature so the deviation for me wasn't a welcome one.
I found some of the editing irritating at times with some shots appearing to repeat on a loop. I have since read this may have been to bring the movie up to it's original runtime due to a fisting scene being cut from the original, any light shed on this would be appreciated.
Overall I found this movie pretty good and well worth a watch for any one who can accept a little artistic creativity.

^ Watching that film was a very unpleasant experience for me. I did not feel comfortable during the BDSM scene - the sub (not Serena) seemed in genuine distress and it haunted me for some time. A long time later I read an anecdote from some bit performer who said the sub performer's yelling out "you bastard!" (or something to that effect) at the end of the scene was not scripted and was a real reaction which Svetlana chose to not edit out. Of course, that's just hearsay. Lisa DeLeeuw openly talked about how much she hated making the film - she said it was cold all the time (and Svetlana's treatment of performers is well-known), but she also noted that during the animal training scene, Jamie was too rough with her.
Those non-diagetic issues aside (issues that I had no idea about when I watched the film), I simply did not like the film. I found it nauseating, for some reason, and I disliked Jamie's performance (not helped by the editing you mentioned).

I posted some comments on 800 Fantasy Lane in another thread a while back. Don't remember exactly what I said then, but my memory that, after a decent start, the movie completely ran off the rails at the BDSM scene and became a train wreck. Very disappointing for a Svetlana fan like me.
By the way, Ms GGG, you made an interesting comment. Is Svetlana known for treating her performers poorly?

Outlaw Ladies (1981)
Married women who want a little more from their sex life and waste no time going out and getting it which ever way they want it.
Vignette styled movie but the scenes and segments are interlinked. I've not seen this before and whilst watching was trying to work out what type of movie I was watching, it became clear pretty much after the first sex scene.

This a fun movie with solid performances from a strong cast. One scene in particular stood out for me, I'll call it the 'lingerie scene' where Marlene Willoughby gets it on with Bobby Astyr. What makes the scene (imo) is the build up where Cassey (MW) is portrayed as prim and proper, oozing class with an exaggerated posh accent to match. So when she looks herself in the mirror and tells herself to "do it bitch" revealing herself to be a lady of the night and immediately gets down to some rimming it had me laughing out loud for sure.
Another movie I liked, I'm beginning to think I'm too easily pleased when it comes to classic era porn movies but I genuinely did like it and would recommend it to just about anyone interested in golden age classics.

Yes, very much so. It has been said in many places, all anecdotal of course, but stated by the actors/industry people themselves. The Wildside release of Sex Boat has a featurette called "Some like it very hot: Portrait de la réalisatrice Svetlana par les stars du X (Randy West, Kelly Nichols…) et les spécialistes Bill Margold et James Sullivan." No one has anything good to say about her - the only person who goes a little easy on her is sweetheart Richard Pacheco. In addition, I can't remember where I read it (I think perhaps the adult film group on facebook which is well-attended by many classic performers, writers, and directors), but someone recalled Svetlana trying to not pay her performers and John Leslie took the rolls of film or some such gesture until she agreed to pay everyone. I may be mis-paraphrasing but I know money was involved and John Leslie took a stand. She was, by nearly all accounts, a rather unpleasant person to work for.

I had a 1983 AVN and Richard Pacheco was interviewed he went on to say that Svetlana was a total bitch and needed to have her toenails ripped out.
Johnny,Outlaw Ladies is an excellent film I loved the scene between Joey Silvera,Samantha Fox and Jody Maxwell. The John Leslie (R.I.P.)and Vernonica Hart scene is not to be missed one of my all time favorites.

I know the feeling. I have concluded that it's just because they're good. :)

Just watched Vivid's Dark Knight XXX.
I didn't have high hopes for this one following the disappointing Avengers XXX, which had absolutely no plot to speak of.
This movie is actually pretty good. They have done a top notch job with the sets, make-up and costumes (which stay on during the sex, yay!). The storyline, whilst very brief, was engaging and moved smoothly on to the sex scenes. Aiden Ashley as Catwoman and Penny Pax as Batgirl were stand-outs.
The Batman and Catwoman scene is particularly well shot and performed with both performers climaxing quite spectacularly.

I liked it, especially the framing device. Whenever watching Wade Nichols, I would prefer to hear him speak, so the absence of dialogue for most of the film was a little disappointing. However, if there's any face that can carry a film with no dialogue, it's Nichols'. Yum.

Visions is a sleeper for sure, I'd like to see more features with Nichols as the lead, any suggestions?

Despite being one of Vincent's lesser efforts, VISIONS is another one of his films that truly solidifies him as one of the great independent filmmakers of the 70's and 80's (X rated and otherwise).
The man's career was so incredibly diverse; he dabbled in all genres of film and this not-quite successful stab at making a luscious, poetic dream film just furthers that sentiment.
And I too love the framing device.
And what a typically Vincent ending: he finds happiness through dying.

Yep. His performance made me weep in a library once. If that makes me a sap or a weirdo, well I am the first to admit it.
I would follow up Take Off with Punk Rock. I really love Punk Rock.
