Strong words from Ann, the most popular porn star of the last decade.
“James doesn’t want to lose his whole career over a girl, so if we all just take a step back and try and put some common sense into play, this seems like some bitter girls lashing out publicly instead of doing it the right way. If you’re a real activist, a feminist, a believer, you would go to the appropriate groups.”
“I can’t stand by them publicly shaming,” she added. “This is bullying. This is public shaming until it’s actually proven.”

so if someone who can't prove her words (how could she do that) and has been raped says to the world that she's been raped she's a bully? What Lisa Ann here is saying is basically: I believe him.

what about someone who has NOT been raped and can't prove her words because she hasn't been raped says to the world that she's been raped then is she not a bully?

yes, that would be bullying, but it's just one of the two possibilities. But in the other case it would not be be bullying at all.
So if one says that to say that on twitter is automatically bullying is just thinking that the fact didn't happened.

Aren't those siding with Stoya saying they believe her?
But I think what she is saying is mostly leveled against the other people piling on. Reading those accounts, some of that sounds awful. Some of it is dubious. And some of it pretty much leads me to concur with Lisa. Two of those accounts claim to have been raped by Deen on camera, during a shoot. One was the Amber Rayne account, which sounded the worst out of all of them. She said he tore her ass, and there was blood everywhere. She says he closed fist punched her head twice. She says she needed stitches in her anus.
And she's still friends with him?! wtf?
I mean, god bless her heart for such Christ-like display of forgiveness. But I said it before and I'll say it again - some of these people are crazy. Hell I think some of them are crazier than he is. It's a pitiful state.

Probably, but the point is (and it seems we both agree on this) is that the fact that she said what she said on twitter (and it must be remembered that she said it after reading someone mentioning him as a feminist) isn't NECESSARILY something that should be blamed or "shameful" as Lisa Ann describes it.
That is shameful only thinking (as she seems to believe) that he is innocent.

She is correct proper legal channels should be pursued instead of a big announcement on twitter. HOWEVER..
going back to the old retread comment people make about " why didn't she report it at the time", is just sad. There is so much evidence and research to make it very clear why women do not come forward. I really hope society gets that attitude out of it's mind one day.
Also, the concept "why would he rape when he gets so much sex".... that again is a very easily answered and well researched question. Most people don't rape or abuse because they can't get sex.
Lisa Ann is a great woman in my eyes. I like her. I just can not fathom how someone with such intelligence, and female, would trot out those two questions that come out every time someone makes a rape accusation. I get Deen is her friend and she is defending him, I have no problem with that part. She is very reasonable to ask for something to be proven first, and all of the rest of her comments.
My take is there are guys into rough sex who get narcissistic when they are playing the dominant role. They build a narrative in their mind that every girl wants it and every girl needs what they are dishing out. When a girl is enjoying rough sex with them, they can not fathom that the girl may have different boundaries. When the NO's or STOP's come out, they ignore them. Not necessarily because they want to be rapists, they just can't comprehend that this girl they are having sex with actually wants to stop.
Does it make the person a rapist, yes. Does it mean they are on the same level as Bill Cosby, or someone who forces sex on someone who said no before anything even started? I don't think so.
To me, Deen is a guy who enjoys rough sex, and just doesn't know when to draw the line when he pushes a girl to her limits (which is very wrong). He considers his limits to be the correct and only way to go. I do not feel he is intentionally going into situations wanting to rape someone or harm someone; I feel he just is so wrapped up in himself he doesn't even comprehend that he has to respect boundaries. He needs to be educated more so than burned at the stake. I can understand him being devastated and believe Lisa when she says this. Like I have said, I feel he truly didn't understand how anyone could want him to stop and it never registered in his brain.

Lisa Ann: “I can’t understand why a guy that has sex 25 times a month on set would rape anybody ever,”
That logic seems pretty telling and to me at least really undercuts her argument a lot. She describers as "bitter breakups" and yet several of the girls aren't GF's and one described herself several times as a "friend" and was tough to speak out because of that. To me Lisa sounds like a person defending someone she knows, which is fine I guess, but it doesn't make her points anymore substantive. The whole piece kinda boils down to 'He didn't do it to me and I don't (want to) believe it'. Which again fine, but this happens for most people even if they did do it, they have people that support them.

Let's go to the dictionary:
Bully: noun, plural bullies.
1. a blustering, quarrelsome, overbearing person who habitually badgers and intimidates smaller or weaker people.
2. Archaic. a man hired to do violence.
3. Obsolete. a pimp; procurer.
4. Obsolete. good friend; good fellow.
5. Obsolete. sweetheart; darling.
verb (used with object), bullied, bullying.
6. to act the bully toward; intimidate; domineer.

I'm not seeing it.

At this point I'd be curious to know if there is any remote possibility to prove with "proper legal channels" a rape after more than a year, even considering that if the story is true it happened during something that started as consensual sex.

What I got from Lisa Ann's comments:
1. James Deen is devastated;
2. James Deen is being Twitter-bullied;
3. She doesn't believe Deen 'would ever do anything like that'; because
4. "“I can't understand why a guy that has sex 25 times a month on set would rape anybody ever";
5. She queries the motives ('bitter break ups'), the timing ('why over Thanksgiving') and the medium (using Twitter instead of 'go[ing] to the police' and 'keep[ing] it private') of Stoya's announcement;
In her position/role (ex-pornstar, radio host, impressed with her own importance) it is inevitable that Lisa Ann would wade into this situation. Nevertheless, it's pretty much a case of her traversing the same issues as are being rehearsed in this thread, essentially offering nothing new by way of information or perspective (and therefore just joining the burgeoning chatter), except for providing this stunning insight (repeated because it needs to be)...
...“I can't understand why a guy that has sex 25 times a month on set would rape anybody ever" Who knew?
Provides plenty of evidence about Ms Ann's level of understanding but none about rape.

So apparentlyly this incident took place in the Kink premises at a wrap party in the presence of numerous others.
Quote from article ;
"I started giving him [oral sex]. It was nice at first, then it got really rough. I kept trying to pull my head up to say something, it was too rough.
'But he would just push my head back in so I was choking and I couldn't say anything.
As he was doing it – this is the embarrassing part and why I didn't say anything – he said "oh my God, I have to go to the bathroom" and he pissed in my mouth.
'Then after that, he had the idea of putting the beer bottle up my arse. So that was done.'
She claims that she was the first to complain about James Deen on an Internet forum set up by Kink – but that her post was deleted.
'I wrote about my experience with James Deen, saying, "how can he get away with it" and they not only deleted my post but kicked me out so I unable to post in the forum."
End quote from article.
Dosnt sound like a cut and dried brute force rape scenario but more like a combination of situation / peer pressure , force , bad decision making and lack of resolve to gtfo of the situation. Still fucked up but maybe thats what goes on at wrap parties , Kink seem to have been unsympathetic to her complaints if the article is to be beleived , although they are obviously attemtpting to make all the right noises now.
Translates as powerful people in porn can do whatever they like with impunity and the studios with cover it up. If its all true.

This is a horrible story.
Sadly, in the environment created by Sabrina Rubin Erdely's UVA rape hoax, it is more than possible that people will doubt a genuine victim of rape speaking out.
Rape does happen. Now Senator Mairia Cahill of Ireland was raped by a member of the IRA and her rape was covered up by Gerry Adams (who also covered up his pedo brother Liam raping his own daughter) and the rest of the IRA.
I was never a big fan of either Deen or Stoya, so I can't say I have followed them enough to form any kind of opinion on who is correct in between the two of them.
That being said, Amber Rayne was one of the most solid people in the industry before she retired after filming Wanted for Stormy Daniels. What she has tweeted over the past couple of days is revealing for, not only her words, but her nuances:
I was not sexually assaulted. I was in a scene that was unnecessarily brutal and left me injured...It was an isolated incident
I was not raped. People were assuming that I was amongst those who were. I was involved 9 years ago in a scene that became
I only said something to debunk the rumor. I want no attention from this. End of subject.
I didnt want anyone thinking he had raped me cause he never did anything of the sort&figured telling the truth would be better
Matured and we're past that incident. have never seen him as a bad person and that one time aside very much liked working
I have no further involvement with anywhere this goes from here
I will never condone it and am so conflicted on everything going on. Hence why I haven't commented further than straightening
Also of interest are a couple of things tweeted by Lexi Belle who is a) not exactly an unknown/barely known in the industry, and b) not someone with an axe to grind or known to habitually involve herself in feuds
If you were assaulted....why wouldn't you call the police...when it happened?
I believe in standing up for yourself. But there is not such thing as Twitter police.

^^ ^^^ I disagree. "Rape is about power, not sex" is feminist cant. The idea that the motivations of all rapists can be reduced to a simplistic and absolute slogan is just stupid, no matter how successful the Dworkinites have been in spreading it around. Any given rape may not be about sex primarily, or at all, but it still necessarily involves sex, and given that, I think Lisa Ann's comment is at least worthy of serious consideration, not mockery or attack because it clashes with feminist rhetoric.

^Disagree generally, though I do recognize that the debate is an ongoing one in some psychological circles.
^This actually more or less makes the point that her statement was ill-informed... which was that she had difficulty believing that a guy who could have sex whenever he wanted it could be a rapist.

^^ Rape isn't motivated by sexual desires. Rape is the result of an inability to respect boundaries. I feel comfortable saying that is true in 99.9% of the rape cases out there. Guys aren't raping women (or vice versa) because of some overwhelming sexual urge. I've never heard of a reported rape case where the accused claimed "I just had to get laid."
That said, suggesting that someone who has a lot of sex wouldn't have any motivation to rape shows a fundamental lack of understanding as to what rape really is. (feminist can't or not)

^^^ So do you consider a third person theorizing that 'he gets lots of sex so why would he ever need to rape' as a seriously credible rebuttal of '[he] held me down and fucked me while I said no, stop, used my safeword'?
Do you consider seriously that Deen just needed a little more sex than Stoya was prepared to give him?

Three more porn performers have come forward to accuse porn star James Deen of ignoring the sexual boundaries of a co-star—a woman he wasn’t scheduled to be working with at all.
The porn performers leveled the accusations against Deen in separate interviews with Vocativ.
Lily LaBeau, who has performed with Deen several times, told Vocativ about an incident in which Deen hit her in the face so hard her jaw locked. She called it “the most traumatic thing that’s happened to me in my career.”
Derrick Pierce, an actor and director who is the first male performer to speak out with a story about Deen, and who was present for two incidents involving LaBeau and Deen, corroborated her account and said that they had contributed to his belief that Deen “doesn’t like limits.”
A third performer, who asked to remain anonymous, corroborated LaBeau’s account.

I'm pretty sure (but not 99.9% sure) that there is nothing I am comfortable saying is true 99.9% of the time. Certainly not when what you're talking about would necessarily involve reading some else's mind, and definitely not when the claim is being made that all persons who commit a deviant act are motivated by the same exact single thing, and never ever anything else.
I haven't suggested that, and i don't think Lisa Ann was either. I think she was alluding to the physical toll taken on a male talent in getting through 25 scenes a month, and whether he would be left with much "in the tank" to act on any rape impulses he might harbor.

I doubt that she was talking about physical toll. First, the guy isn't even 30 yet.
Second, her quote said she's not sure why he would do it. Not how he could do it.

Except that if she (and possibly you) had been paying attention, you'd realize that most of the women who have come out against him haven't accused him of rape in the classic scene (i.e. penetrative rape). At this point, most of the accusations are about him going too far physically or about him not respecting being told that he couldn't do something while already having consensual sex.
Also, if anyone actually wants to see a more reasoned "defense" of James, here's what Asa Akira posted in the AMA she did yesterday:
https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/3v7mzy/iama_published_author_director_a_wicked_picture/cxl1nwm
She goes about as far as she can while still maintaining that she can't definitively say anything about his guilt or innocence.

I think that's a disingenuous interpretation of her comments. Murdock has it right, it was a straight forward "the guy gets as much sex as he wants, why would he rape?" argument. Judging by your posts, you believe that rape has more to do with sexual urges than desire for control, but in this case, I can't imagine reading these allegations (whether you believe them, or not) and concluding that his desire was anything other than total control over his partners. They all track the same pattern of behavior.
By the way, even your more charitable interpretation of her comments is ridiculous. The guy is so tuckered out from working so much, that he physically can't rape? That's an argument not worth being mocked?

Oh so you take issue with me reading other people's mind, but you seem capable of reading Lisa Ann's. Nice.
And your attempt at mind reading makes absolutely no sense anyway. Physical toll? Seriously? Are you suggesting that all of these encounters are being completely fabricated? (You'd be the first, afaik. No one else seems to be doubting that the encounters happened, just if they were consensual or not) Or are you just suggesting that Deen would be too worn out to continue the encounter in a non-consensual sort of way? Don't get me wrong... both are pretty ridiculous, I'm just curious which variety of ridiculous you've decided to go with to continue clinging to your beliefs.

Yeah, that's what many people (especially those who don't "follow" the porn biz like we do) will take away from this whole scenario. It's certainly not a good look for the biz, especially when considering that he's not just an average joe in the biz, he was essentially porn's "golden boy." It especially looks bad for Kink, since they kinda "specialize" in female degradation/simulated rape porn.

Man, James Deen and Lily Labeau have worked together like 12 times. She worked with him recently too.
Why would she work with him so many times. She even did a pornstars off set scene with him and they seemed like good friends.
I don't know what the fuck is real anymore.
Feel bad for Deen's dad tbh. Having to deal with this shit his son did.

You can have consensual sex without exerting power, but you can't have non-consensual sex without doing so in some fashion. Does that mean that every rapist is consciously thinking about power? No, it doesn't, but the use of force/power is inherent in the situation.
If Stoya is to be believed, Deen wanted to keep doing what he was doing, she wanted him to stop doing what he was doing - he ignored her request. In doing so, he denied her any control over what was happening, which translates into him keeping the power to control the situation all to himself.

Rape is about power AND sex. The old Feminist slogan was an attempt to address the idea that rape was exclusively about sexual disfunction or frustration or some half-baked neo-Darwinist determinist nonsense that I thought was long discredited until I read some of the comments in this thread.

Agreed.
And applied specifically to the Stoya case , its logical to think that someone (JD) in the midst of consensual sex in a highly aroused state, that his behavoiour will be at least in part be sexually motivated. If he is compelled to continue despite his partners protestations its possibly because of extreme arousal just as much as its a power trip.
As an analogy - if your watching tv and your better half asks for the remote control - your refusal to let her change channel is just as likely to be that you want to keep watching the current programme as that you want to deny her the power to change channel.

^^Looking at it in a vacuum, I can see how you could arrive at that conclusion.
But this case isn't in a vacuum any longer. It isn't just Stoya making accusations, and those accusations aren't just limited to consensual sex that crossed into non-consensual. That narrative doesn't work with pretty much any of the other allegations made by any of the other women.
Is it possible, that he was so highly aroused with Stoya that he couldn't bring himself to stop when she told him? Yeah.
In the context of all of the other accusations that have been made, is it likely? No.

This is called poisoning the well, very well done, bring up something completely irrelevant to pretend that you are talking about the subject. By your logic, isn't bringing up Cosby a better reference because there were multiple victims and more corroboration than a total hoax of a story where the intent was different?

People were attemtping to discredit Lisa Anns opinions using the aforementioned simplistic and misleading rhetoric.
Such misinformations need to be dispelled so that a more honest and accurate debate can flourish.
